You used to do them when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious
behavior
, slander and dirty
Colossians 3:7,8
When you look at your hands, do they each have four fingers, a thumb and the same three lines drawn across the palm of both hands? If your answer is yes, that's because they are purposely
designed to look the same.
But what about the lifestyle of a believer and unbeliever? Are they purposely designed to look the same? Are their words designed to look the same? Is their conduct designed to look the same?
Before they became Christians, the members of the church in Colosse lived a immoral lifestyle. But after they became believers, the apostle Paul encouraged them to get rid of sexual immorality, anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander and dirty language," and to clothe themselves with "mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." (Colossians 3: 8,12). Paul didn't expect the Colossians' behavior
to change immediately, but gradually as they grew in their relationship with Christ.
Our hands may be designed to look the same, but the lifestyle of a believer and unbeliever are not. So as you dress for your day, don't forget to put on the clothes of love, mercy, kindness, gentleness, and patience, so others can see the difference in you.
