Neighborhood Problem Needs Your Help!
Flooding at Cherry and Linden (looking north). Wave action from traffic
damages neighbor's walls and vegetation.
Our neighbors along Linden and Cherry have long advocated for mitigation of water flowing south from UA impermeable surfaces. The wave action caused by cars in heavy flows have damaged their walls and vegetation.  Only solution is to place a traffic circle and stop signs to slow the traffic. Vegetation in the circle could absorb some of the water flow

The UA will not mitigate, nor pay for mitigation. The city will not pay for installation of a traffic circle, but would install stop signs if a circle were constructed.

Solution?  Do it yourself. The city has issued a permit and will install stop signs when a circle is constructed.  See next article to see how you can help.

How you can  help...
The proposed traffic circle was adopted as a neighborhood project by the JPNA Board.
Permits have been issued.  Estimates have been solicited.  Now we must do the fundraising.  Our neighbors have always come together for common solutions.  Jefferson Park has an Historic District, a Neighborhood Preservation Zone, historic street designation signs, and a little free library all because of neighbors' donations.

$10,000 - Estimate to build a traffic circle
-0-          Stop Signs installed by city
$1,500 - Pledged by JPNA
$1,000 - Pledged by Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc
$1,300 -  Total of pledges from neighbors and friends:
L. Burrola, L. Werthmuller, H. Jacobsen, J. Daniels
$6,200 - to go

The Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc will take designated donations to the traffic circle fund.  Donations made to the non-profit are tax-deductible and donors receive a receipt for tax purposes.  Click here to print a form to donate to the project.  No amount is too small.  You may also send a check for the Cherry/Linden traffic circle to:

Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc
P.O. Box 41243
Tucson, AZ 85717

Please note on the check your designation as a traffic circle donation.
International School Playground....Stay off the equipment.
The large playground set on our little school in Jefferson Park badly needs repair.  It is unsafe, so when taking the kids to the playground over the holidays steer them away from that structure.
The school will be making a decision about repairs or demolition in the coming months.

DON'T LET THE GRINCH RUIN YOUR CHRISTMAS (VIDEO) - The holiday season is the time of year when thieves go looking to steal packages and other things out of your car. People are often busy and get distracted, and that's when the bad guys act. The Tucson Police Department (TPD) recently produced a light-hearted video (link below) about serious safety tips to keep your Christmas a happy one.

Also, be aware, a burglary happened last week in the 1300 block  of Edison.  The burglar entered through a casement window while the owner was away.  Let's watch out for each other, Call 911 for any suspicious activity!
