2017 Boulder Plein Air Festival
Boulder, Colorado
June 11-18, 2017

Notification Date: April 12, 2017

Participation Fee: $200

Join us for a week of plein air painting in scenic Boulder, Colorado! We invite you to venture beyond the city of Boulder to the surrounding mountains, and the entire Boulder Valley area. This is a painter’s paradise: amazing open space and mountains, vistas, a scenic downtown, farms, meadows, and more!

Hosted by Open Studios Boulder, this event has been created as an opportunity for artists to showcase their skills and highlight the beauty of the Boulder area. As an alternative to other plein air festivals that derive their funding primarily from the sale of artwork at the festival, we have opted to charge a nominal fee for participating artists and, in turn, created an opportunity for artists to retain the majority of the sale price of their work. 85% of sales revenue from the culminating exhibit will be paid to the artists. Open Studios will retain 15% of sales to help cover the costs of displays, staffing the exhibit and credit card fees from sales. We hope this will create an environment where artists will realize greater financial benefit from participation in the Boulder Plein Air Festival.
