Policy Updates
Now more than ever it is important for all of us to tell our legislators why afterschool matters to us. We invite you to join us in reaching out to our local and national representatives to share the stories of how afterschool makes a difference for youth and their communities.

OregonASK will be sending out policy updates every Friday this spring, to keep you all aware of changes and happenings on the state and national level.
83% of Voters Oppose President Trump's Proposed Cut to Afterschool Funding!

Quinnipiac University just released the results from their nation-wide, independent voter poll on how American's feel about President Trump's proposed budget for 2018. In total, 83% of voters oppose the proposed cut- and only 14% said they thought it was a good idea. Below is information about how different demographic groups responded.
Question: Do you think that significantly cutting funding for after school and summer school programs is a good idea or a bad idea?

Afterschool Alliance Letter

Thank you for joining us in the fight to preserve afterschool funding! With the President's "skinny budget" proposing the elimination of afterschool funding for 1.6 million students, and House and Senate Appropriations subcommittees beginning the FY18 spending process, we are asking for your support of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative. Please see the Afterschool Alliance's organizational sign-on letter (at the link below) calling for at least current funding of $1.16 billion for 21st CCLC within the FY18 House and Senate spending bills. Let's make sure Oregon is well represented!

Organizations are invited to sign-on by April 6th
