10 News: Ferg's gets exemption to serve alcohol Sunday morning for Opening Day
For the 20th straight season, St. Petersburg's iconic "Ferg's Sports Bar" across from Tropicana Field will be home to fans ahead of Sunday's first game of the season against the New York Yankees.
"It's the biggest day of the year for us," said Ferg's owner, Mark Ferguson.
This year's Opening Day is unique in that the Rays and Yankees will be opening up the season for all of Major League Baseball with the very first game in the nation.

Tampa Bay Times: Mayor Rick Kriseman: Ridership numbers show a need for ferry service between Tampa and St. Petersburg
With the ferry service between St. Petersburg and Tampa ending in April, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman vowed in front of the Pinellas County Commission to find money to help bring it back in November.
During a 30-minute presentation Tuesday, Kriseman told the commission that his staff is contacting federal and state officials to see what is required for those governments to possibly contribute money for the temporary service.

It was way more successful than expected, but the Cross-Bay Ferry
service between Tampa and St. Petersburg is going away - at least, temporarily.
Numbers from the city of St. Petersburg indicate more than 22,000 people took the
ferry through February.

St. Pete Patch: St. Pete Officer of the Year Honored
A St. Petersburg cop with a knack for closing cases has been named the agency's 2016 Officer of the Year.
Officer Scott Cameron was honored with the 53rd Officer of the Year Award, presented by the Exchange Club of St. Petersburg and the Pearson Patterson Trust, on Thursday.
Cameron has been a St. Pete officer since 2003 and serves on the agency's Violent Crimes Task Force.

The Weekly Challenger: Cohort of Champions program hits the ground running
The first meeting of the Cohort of Champions program got underway Saturday, March 25 at the Enoch Davis Center. Twenty-five young men got a preview into what this yearlong initiative has to offer.
Cohort of Champions involves a comprehensive, multi-faceted one-year training initiative for 100 of St. Pete's African-American boys and young men between ages of 12 and 24.

Tampa Bay Reporter: Half Marathon Coming to St. Pete
A new running event is set to make its inaugural debut in November.
The St. Pete Run Fest will be a two-day festival featuring the St. Pete Half Marathon, Sunshine City 5K, Kids Run, and Health & Fitness Market, which will include live music, local craft beer and food, artisans, and entertainers.The festival will draw thousands of runners and their families to downtown St. Pete, providing a significant economic boost for local businesses and charities. The event, scheduled for Nov. 18-19, will be managed by EndorFun Sports.
