Provide a Holiday Turkey
As you start to plan for your family's holiday celebrations, please think about all of the families who won't be able to put food on their table this season. Unfortunately, the OC Food Bank does not have enough turkeys for those who walk through our doors this holiday. Everyone deserves to celebrate the season and provide a holiday meal for their family PLEASE consider making a $20 donation to purchase a turkey for a hungry family, or buy a 'flock of turkeys' to feed more than one family. We need your help more than ever this holiday season and we are grateful for anything you can provide.

Karate Program
Our Karate Club program enrolls over 50 students of all ages from neighborhoods surrounding the El Modena FRC in Orange with a focus in low-income, at risk youth.

Karate Club is a free-of-cost program that is offered year-round and meets three days per week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Two qualified instructors trained and ranked in the Gensei Ryu style teach participants tradition Japanese karate in a safe and controlled class. Both instructors are licensed as tournament officials by the USA Karate Federation, which is recognized by the US Olympic Committee and the Pan American Karate Federation.

The training that students receive allows them to compete in local traditional karate tournaments, where they have the opportunity to showcase their newly-acquired skills. Our program hosts an annual Karate tournament to help raise money that is used throughout the year to purchase equipment, uniforms, supplies, and underwrite our students' attendance at other tournaments and seminars. Whole Foods Campaign
We are happy to announce that through the Feeding Local Families campaign in partnership with Whole Foods, we were able to raise $5,510 to donate towards the OC Food Bank. Thank you, Whole Foods!

Westminster High's agricultural program isn't just educating students about horticulture, livestock and equipment.  It's also putting food on the tables of those who need it most.

This year, eight acres of farmland adjacent to the campus have been re-branded as The Giving Farm as part of a unique initiative that's providing students with hands-on agricultural lessons while cultivating fresh produce for families in need.

The program represents a partnership between Westminster High, Solutions for Urban Agriculture, the Orange County Farm Bureau and the Orange County Food Bank, which boasts a network of approximately 400 local charities, soup kitchens and community organizations.

In addition to growing three types of squash - butternut, spaghetti and acorn - The Giving Farm produces some impressive watermelons, which were being harvested by students during a recent visit from  OCDE's Media Services team. Click here to watch their brief video.

La Colonia Market Ribbon Cutting
Community Action Partnership of Orange County (in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank) is proud to announce the launch of their new Permanent School Pantry: La Colonia Market located in the Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center.

The mission of the School Pantry Program is to help alleviate child hunger in America through the provision of food to children and their families. School Pantries are located on the grounds of a school or community-based organization, intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income children and their families.

School Pantry is a Feeding America Program model, adopted and tailored by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County (SHFBOC) to best reach the needs of the community. SHFBOC launched its first permanent School Pantry (the "Lion's Den") in September 2015 at Lincoln Elementary in Anaheim, and its second ("Mercado El Sol") in April 2017 at El Sol Science & Arts Academy in Santa Ana.

Staff/Client Testimonials
I had recently been released from the hospital to come home to outstanding bills, and currently my wife is on hospice and is terminally ill. Having the Weatherization staff come and assess my home really gave me a positive outlook. It was nice to know people cared enough to help me with my home and to simply listen to me. The staff was simply stellar, had great energy, and personalities. I wanted to give a big thank you to Kanielle and Thai for all their hard work.

Client: Ryan R.

Vicky is an elderly client with sever arthritis whose furnace was not operating properly. She received a new space heater and furnace right around the holidays so she could be warm and cozy during the cold winter months. Vicky was very grateful to have heat and sent a thank you Easter card to her outreacher, Walter.
