Tiny House Program

Isa Cann of Tiny House Northeast will be here talking about the tiny house phenomenon on Wednesday, April 5th at 6:30pm. Come and find out how to make your tiny house dreams a reality. The basics of planning for and owning a tiny house will be covered.
 

New Knitting Group

On Monday, April 10th from 6-8pm the new knitting group will meet in the Trustees Room. This group is open to anyone who has a love for knitting and crocheting.  All levels are welcome! Please bring your precious works-in-progress and any finished objects you would like to show off to the group.
 
Canoing Canada's Arctic

 
Bill Ulinski will be returning to talk about another canoe trip on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30pm. This trip is on a more northerly and faster flowing river. The party of 10, in five canoes, paddled from northern part of the Northwest Territory into Nunavut along the Thelon Sanctuary. The trip covered 170 miles with over 150 rapids in a region seldom visited by man, an area home to a large concentration of tundra wolves and grizzly bears. 

Local Author:  Baseball
         
 

Baseball season is starting this month. Join us on Monday, April 17th at 6:30pm to hear local author Carl Johnson discuss his book "Big Papi and the Kids", about the 2016 Red Sox season. He'll have copies for sale of this book and others he has written about baseball. Baseball fever: catch it!

Imperial Russian Faberge Eggs:  Interactive and beautifully illustrated
 
On Tuesday, April 18th at 7pm , the Friends will host speaker Marina Forbes who will be presenting Imperial Russian Faberge Eggs . This lecture focuses on the life and remarkable work of Russian Master Jeweler and Artist Peter Carl Fabergé. This informative talk will give insight into the important role of egg painting in Russian culture and history.
 
Peep Contest

The Peep Show is coming back in April! Get your Peep Diorama plans started and your Peeps purchased. There are 4 age divisions for competition: Adults, Teens, Youths and Kids. You can start dropping off your masterpieces on April 3rd . See the online event calendar for complete contest information, including rules and prizes.
15th Annual Poetry Contest   
The Dover Public Library is pleased to announce the 15th Annual Dover Public Library Poetry contest for grades K-12.  Prizes will be awarded in six different categories:  Grades K-2; 3 & 4; 5 & 6; 7 & 8; 9 & 10; and 11 & 12.  Poems will be judged on originality, style and creativity.  Deadline for entry is April 19 th . Students may pick up information about the contest at the Dover Public Library, any Dover school library, or at our website at library.dover.nh.gov .  For more information about the contest please contact Denise LaFrance at 516-6082
It's Tax Time!

Free Tax assistance will continue through April 20th on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9-12. You can call 2-1-1 to see if any appointments are left, but walk-ins are always welcome too. We have plenty of 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ forms and booklets available to take home. The deadline this year is April 18th!

Wednesday, April 12th at 6:30pm will be "Lion". Based on the true story of a 5 year old boy who falls asleep on a train and is lost to his family. Adopted by an Australian couple, the boy as an adult uses Google Earth to search for his home. This film stars Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel. It is rated PG-13 and runs 120 minutes.
