Matt's Cast Iron Seasoning Protocol

To season your old cast iron, rub it generously with vegetable oil (or do it the old-fashioned way, with Crisco). Put a sheet of aluminum foil on the bottom rack of your oven. Invert the cast iron over the top rack so that the excess oil leaks onto the foil below. And then turn your oven up to 500 and leave it for an hour, or, better yet, an afternoon. (Caution: too much excess oil may set off the smoke detector…)

UKirk Spring Program: How Can We Help?
Hospitality is one of the hallmarks of University Presbyterian Church.
At this time, we have three ways that folks can get involved with UKirk Austin other than just coming and making relationships with these students (which we strongly encourage!):
  • Cooking on Sunday evenings
    April 23!
  • Cooking for Sandwich Thursdays—March 23, April 6, and April 27
  • Setting up for our Taizé services—help needed THIS Sunday!
If you’d like to help, click the link below. Thanks!

Save the Date:
a Conversation about Immigration

May 7, following worship
UPC Great Hall
The UPC Social Witness Committee has been working with the Faith & Life Class and other groups and classes in the church to learn more about immigration. We will conclude our work in this area with a luncheon and deliberative dialogue with members of UPC about what action we can take as individuals and as a community of faith. We will begin with a light lunch and a panel presentation but the majority of the two hours will be spent listening to YOU, the members of UPC.
  • What are your feelings about this issue?
  • What action do you think we should take as individuals?
    As a congregation?

Your input will be incorporated into our Committee's final report to the Session. Please join us on Sunday, May 7 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
