Our award-winning social-emotional programs focus on increasing social intelligence and pro-social behavior.  We provide direct instruction for children and teens on how to improve social skills and use effective problem solving techniques with peers, siblings and parents.  We find a great deal of value in providing opportunities for kids and teens to practice and apply those skills in our welcoming and deliberately unstructured social environment (similar to indoor recess) that includes the extra layers of facilitation and support to increase your child's or teen's social abilities and conflict resolution skills. Recess, lunch and other unstructured times of the day are the hardest for children and teens to navigate.   While your child is actively playing, interacting and having fun, your child will also experience real-time practice and application of social-emotional skills that include:
Conflict Resolution * Taking Responsibility For Choices, Actions & Words *
Handling Strong Feelings * Flexible Thinking Skills * Personal Space & Boundaries *
Fair Play & Sportsmanship * Conversation Skills * Perspective Taking * Reading & Responding To Social Cues * Manners & Etiquette * How To Join A Group *
How To Play & Work In A Group and more!

MISS DONNA'S SOCIAL GROUP STORY OF THE WEEK
I have some kids that are struggling with self esteem. Kids that for whatever reason, are not feeling 100% great about themselves. Sure, all of us make mistakes, and as adults, we may be a little bit more forgiving of ourselves.

But what about those kids that think they can never get it right? Maybe their impulsivity or re-activeness is consistently getting the best of them. Maybe they are trying hard to make friends, and find themselves on the outer edges, excluded, or even picked on.

This week, I took an activity from our anxiety workbook and showed some of the kids what a True List was. I had them list all of the good things they know about themselves. Maybe it was traits such as smart, funny, loyal, friendly, persistent, resilient, kind, patient, etc. Then we talked about which one of those traits they might erase if they had a bad day or someone was not being nice to them. The answer of course, was none! These great things remain, no matter what happens. I encouraged the kids to keep their lists and add to them, as a reminder of who they truly are and how no one else can take that away.
