Lorne Park Library 50th Anniversary Celebration
I invite you to join myself, Mayor Crombie and the other members of Council of the City of Mississauga and the Mississauga Public Library Board at the Lorne Park Library 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 8th. The Official Ceremony starts at 2 pm, followed by family-friendly activities from 2:30 – 4:00 pm. The Lorne Park library is located at 1474 Truscott Dr.
Rattray March Annual Spring Clean-up CANCELLED
Credit Valley Conservation, in partnership with Rattray Marsh Protection Association, is cancelling the Annual Spring Clean-up event at Rattray Marsh on Saturday, April 8th, due to off-trail safety concerns. There is potential for dead or heavily impacted ash trees in off-trail areas to fall. 
Earth Day Tree Planting Event, Lakeside Park
The City of Mississauga has committed to plant 150 trees in each Ward on Saturday, April 22nd, 9:30 am to 12 pm. I invite you to join Forestry staff and myself at Lakeside Park for this event. Please note: Registration is requested for this event. To register, visit onemilliontrees.ca.

Canadian Cancer Society Annual Spring Garden Tour
Save the date for the12th Annual Spring Garden Tour in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, which will be taking place on Sunday, May 28th, 10 am to 4 pm. This year's tour will take place in Lorne Park, where ten homeowners have graciously agreed to share their lovely gardens with tour participants. All proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Tickets are available for sale online at ccsgardentour.com  and will be available in April at select retailers in Mississauga.

Nominate Someone for a Mississauga Civic Award of Recognition
Know someone in Mississauga who deserves an award? Nominations are now open for the City of Mississauga 2017 Civic Awards of Recognition! Local residents and organizations who contribute to the community through volunteering, or through achievements in sports, academia and the arts are eligible for nomination.

 What:              2017 Civic Awards of Recognition

 When:             Nominations are open until April 28, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.

 How:              Visit the City’s website at mississauga.ca/civicrecognition for criteria and                           nomination form.

You can also submit nominations by email or regular mail.

The City will present the awards at a formal ceremony at the Mississauga Civic Centre on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Nominations will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Due to the number of seats available, only the first 100 nominees will be considered so be sure to send in your nominations early!

The Civic Recognition Program was launched in 1992 to recognize community service, achievements and significant milestones. Other awards in the program include the Certificate of Recognition, the Civic Award of Merit and Civic Award of Philanthropy.

Credit Valley Horticultural Society Meeting Notice
The Credit Valley Horticultural Society meets on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at 8 pm in the South Common Community Centre, Arbour Green Room, 2233 South Millway. The guest speaker, Rodger Tschanz, will discuss, 'What's New at the University of Guelph Trial Garden'. Buffalo Wild Wings and the Peel Region Community Join Forces to Support Local Youth at Boys and Girls Club of Peel Region 

On April 19, the Mississauga and Oakville Buffalo Wild Wings® restaurants will team up with the Peel Region community for Community Day 2017, an annual celebration that raises funds for local kids as part of the Buffalo Wild Wings Team Up for Kids® mission. Boys and Girls Club of Peel will receive 10 percent of total restaurant sales and 100 percent of Guest donations made on April 19.
