A Message from the Executive Director

As we come to the end of the Winter term, we are excited to share news of University of Windsor's partnership with St. Clair College in the area of entrepreneurial outreach. EPICentre will extend its support to entrepreneurial youth to St. Clair College, working to support the outreach initiated by the College's Genesis Centre. We are pleased to welcome Lauren Nantau and Mike Spadotto from the Genesis staff to our team. This collaboration will foster innovative venture teams of university and college students. The full press release is included below.

The EPICentre team is also partnering with Pillar Nonprofit in London to expand mentoring support for social enterprises (ventures with a social mission). We will cover more about this in next month's newletter.

Finally, I am looking forward to two alumni reunions next month in Toronto. The first will take place on April 27 and will host University of Windsor MBA/JD alumni. The second takes place on April 28 and will host all business and legal consulting alumni of CBAR/CEL/IPLIN/EPIC Odette consulting/Odette Enterprise Development Consulting and LTEC.  If you have not already registered, we encourage you to do so by clicking the above links.  Hope to see you there!

University of Windsor and St. Clair College formalize entrepreneurial agreement

Beginning April 1, 2017, the University of Windsor's Entrepreneurship, Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) will extend its entrepreneurial outreach to St. Clair College.

The St. Clair Genesis Centre's team will merge with EPICentre, creating a new location called EPIC Genesis. This collaboration will build on synergies and expand the services available to college and university students in Windsor-Essex. It will create opportunities to mix and connect the varying skill sets of these post-secondary students and graduates, and potentially enable highly innovative venture teams.

Founders Update: Aphasia Friendly Business Campaign

Laura Pineault, a former RBC EPIC Founder from 2016, is proud to  announ ce an exciting milestone for her startup Aphasia Friendly Canada. They have completed their first two training sessions for Tim Hortons employees (30 managers from 14 stores and 45 supervisors).

The next step will be to train all 500 employees. Laura thanked EPICentre for making this all possible. "Thank you for your role in making this possible--the employees' receptivity to the training made me think of the valuable time I spent at EPICentre last summer, creating and developing this project."

Laura focuses on offering services and workshops for people living with aphasia and other communication disabilities. Leading meaningful organizational change initiatives is an area of interest and passion for Laura, and her current projects enable her to do so in the setting of vulnerable and at risk populations.
