Despite being one of the most talked about pieces of legislation this session, activity has seemingly slowed down on HB001 (SB230). The Chamber continues to monitor discussions and will continue to provide weekly updates.
Days after being added to the Senate Finance Committee agenda, SB1192 was pulled from the hearing scheduled. This legislation would have increased unemployment insurance premiums by codifying existing labor regulations for independent contractors.

Development Regulations Assessment Community Engagement Meetings
Howard County is in the very early stages of reviewing and modernizing our development regulations. The first phase includes public input sessions and technical analysis to evaluate the zoning code, as well as regulations, policies and manuals, related to land development.
County Executive Allan H. Kittleman will introduce the project and make announcements at the first meeting at Howard Community College.
