TOMORROW, March 31, Superior Courts will be closed observing Cesar Chavez Day. Federal Courts and DDS Legal will be open. Any work picked up Friday will be presented to Superior Courts Monday or beyond, work for Federal Courts will be completed as requested. If your office will be closed, please let your daily, court expert know so that we may adjust the route.

LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR
PROBATE EFILING BEGINS SOON
Effective June 5, 2017
, Los Angeles Superior Court will mandate electronic filing (eFiling) of all documents filed in the Probate Division except for the following
1. Peremptory challenges or challenges for cause of a judicial officer (CCP ยง170.6 or 170.1)
2. Original testamentary instruments (wills & codicils), letters, original trust documents, and bond or undertaking documents
3. Trial and hearing exhibits
4. Documents filed in civil cases that are related for handling in the probate division
5. Lodged documents
Filings received after midnight are deemed filed as of the next business day.

1) eFile through DDS eFiling Portal (at your own convenience), or
2) eFile Concierge: Keep your route and DDS Legal will convert paper filings and submit eFilings on your behalf

Statewide eFiling requirements:
In preparation for STATEWIDE eFILING, soon, you will be asked to provide a STRONG password to access Statewide California counties accepting eFilings.
Passwords:
Must be at least 8 characters, contain at least one lower case, at least one upper case, and at least one number or symbol.
No action needed yet; but when the time comes, it will take a second to change your unique STRONG password.

SMALL CLAIMS
Paper court files are no longer available for Los Angeles Superior Court small claims cases filed on or after May 31, 2016.
Electronic files may be viewed for free on public access computers located at Los Angeles Superior courthouses or for a fee, online at lacourt.org
Requests for paper copies can also be obtained via public access computers or online. Cases filed prior to June 2016 will still need to be viewed at the location where case was filed.
