Looking for a new home, new condominium or new townhome in North Fulton County? Here are some things you should know.

The North Fulton area, which at AtlantaCOMMUNITIES.com we define as all of Fulton County north of I-285, includes the cities of Sandy Springs, Roswell and Alpharetta, as well as the recently incorporated cities of Milton and Johns Creek. We also include that small part of adjacent DeKalb County which is north of I-285, but not actually in the legal boundary of North Fulton. This area includes the city of Dunwoody. We call it all 'North Fulton'.

North Fulton is very accessible with I-285 running through east and west, and Georgia 400 (SR 400) running north and south right through the middle. One of the busiest intersections in metro Atlanta is I-285/SR 400 with 400,000 motorists using it daily. The Federal Highway Administration has approved the Atlanta Transportation Improvement Plan which includes $1 billion in funding to improve the interchange in a four year construction project starting in 2016.

Other than Buckhead inside the Perimeter, North Fulton home prices are generally the highest in metro Atlanta. From sprawling golf course communities, to master-planned communities like Windward, to urban mixed-use communities like Avalon, to upscale home neighborhoods of all kinds, to Active Adult/55+ communities, to condominium and townhomes, you'll find them all in North Fulton.

Currently, North Fulton County has eighty-three new home subdivisions, condominiums and townhome communities for sale that range from the high two-hundred thousands to well over one million dollars. Land prices are high in North Fulton, making the ultimate price of new homes for sale high as well. Because of these prices, new home builders in North Fulton build few 'spec' houses - that is, speculative houses which are already built and sometimes only lack the final flooring, paint and lighting choices. North Fulton homes frequently are sold as 'presales' with construction not starting until the purchase contract is signed.

North Fulton County is known as Georgia's 'Golden Corridor' because of all the businesses that are located near the Georgia 400 corridor. Three Fortune 500 companies, First Data Corporation, Newell Rubbermaid and UPS, are located in North Fulton. Six core business sectors dominate the area. Whether your field is in technology, healthcare, finance, telecommunications, logistics or general business, the opportunities are astounding.

Shopping opportunities also abound in North Fulton County, which is home to Perimeter Mall and North Point Mall, as well as dozens of strip shopping centers.
