They wanted to focus on creating the ultimate dining experience for their guests consisting of delicious food and impeccable service. The restaurant is named after Daniel's late grandmother Leena.

Introducing Lisa Marsh as Assistant General Manager and one of the managing partners of Leena's Kitchen in Plymouth. Lisa grew up in Plymouth but moved to CT when she was 16. She lived in CT where she received her Math degree from Sacred Heart University beginning her career as a math teacher. Stefanie Coxe, the founder and principal of Nexus Werx LLC, provides strategic guidance and coaching to businesses on how to maximize and integrate profitability and social impact as well as offering trainings on how to lobby, how to advocate, and how to run for office.

Her credentials include 15 years of combined political and non-profit experience, including serving as an aide to two Massachusetts State Representatives and a U.S. Congressman and Interim Executive Director of a Cape Cod non-profit as well as extensive political campaign experience.

Nexus Werx is a new, win-win form of social entrepreneurship:
  • Nexus Werx utilizes the purchasing power of average consumers
  • Nexus identifies profitable services and products clients can create that have a positive social impact.
  • Nexus connects clients with other businesses/ and/ or non-profits for mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships to achieve economies of scale.
  • Nexus brokers deals so executives can focus on product delivery
Your business is philanthropic and socially conscious. But is that philosophy making you money too?  Nexus Werx helps you align your business priorities and customers with donations and civic involvement for the best publicity and reach.

Let's face it. Lobbying is a closed-door, insider's baseball game. Only those with expensive lobbyists, in house government relations officers or other staff with extensive political experience stand a chance of successfully advocating for their goals at the local, county, state or federal level.  It's not right. That's why at Nexus we don't lobby. We teach you how to. We provide you, your team, and volunteers with the tools you need to achieve your regulatory, legislative, or budgetary goals.

CARRYOUT PLASTIC BAG BAN NOW IN EFFECT IN PLYMOUTH

At Fall Town Meeting in 2016, town meeting members voted overwhelmingly to adopt the bylaw banning plastic carryout shopping bags. Subsequently, the State's Attorney General's Municipal Law Unit approved the bylaw with the effective date of February 16, 2017.   However, the bylaw allows for a six-month transition period. Businesses in Plymouth now have until August 16, 2017 to come into full compliance. Below is a summary of some of the more relevant aspects of ordinance. Please be sure to refer to the full bylaw for a complete description of the regulations .
  • The bylaw applies to businesses, including restaurants, with a gross interior space of 3000 square feet or more. The bylaw also applies to establishments, regardless of size, with two or more locations under the same ownership or brand name within the Town of Plymouth
  • Thin (less than 3 mils) carryout plastic bags with handles currently provided by establishments for customers to transport merchandise from the business are banned.
  • Carryout bags without handles will continue to be used for dry cleaning, newspaper, and small bags used for food or other products by the consumer to transport the items to the point of sale.
  • Reusable carryout bags with handles made from natural or synthetic fibers are allowable substitutes for the banned thin plastic bags. Reusable carryout plastic bags must be no less than 3 mils thick and must have the word "Reusable" or "Reuse" printed on the outside of the bag in a visible manner.
  • Businesses may continue to provide paper bags, with or without handles, as long as they are 100% recyclable and contain 40% or more post-consumer recycled paper.
  • If a business cannot comply by August 16, 2017, it may petition the Board of Health for a six-month extension.   Businesses in violation of this Bylaw shall be subject to the following penalties:
            First Offense:                           Written Warning
            Second Offense:                     $50 fine
            Third Offense:                        $100 fine
            Subsequent offenses:              $200 fine

"Any questions please contact the Plymouth Health Department at:

What's cooking? 3 key voluntary insurance policies for women

Four in 10 women are the sole or primary breadwinners for their families, yet married mothers do more than three times as much cooking, cleaning and laundry as married fathers.
Because women's contributions to their families are financial, physical and emotional, they should consider what would happen to their loved ones if they were suddenly without an income or worse.

There are three key  voluntary insurance policies women should consider - and that employers should consider making available - when it comes to helping protect families. They are life, disability and cancer. Here's why:

(1) They say it's wise to expect the best but prepare for the worst, and life insurance is the perfect example of that adage. Women make major contributions to their families' quality of life. That's especially true today, when so many women are caring for aging parents as well as children. When a woman dies, the effect can reverberate both emotionally and financially through several generations of her family. This is true whether she is a working mother or a stay-at-home mom. After all, mothers who do not work outside the home perform tasks with significant financial value, such as cleaning, cooking, driving and caregiving. Life insurance coverage is important to women because without it, their loved ones' standard of living might change dramatically. Benefits can be used to pay leftover medical costs or for bills such as the monthly mortgage or rent, household expenses, caregiving costs.

(2) Disability insurance protects a working woman's most valuable asset: her ability to earn a living. Many women prefer to believe that a disabling accident or illness is something that happens to others and not to them. But consider that a female 25-year-old office worker with a healthy lifestyle has a 24 percent chance of becoming disabled for three months or longer during her career, and there's a 38 percent chance her disability will continue for at least five years.
Women often place their families before themselves, and that means they may postpone doctor visits or treatment while they care for their husbands, partners or children. Unfortunately, this puts them at greater medical risk because they sometimes let an injury or illness progress before seeking attention.
In the event of sickness or accidental injury, disability insurance helps provide peace of mind and financial protection. Policyholders can use disability benefits to pay the bills that continue to roll in even when their paychecks don't. Whether they earmark the money for gas or electric bills, auto payments or put food on the table, coverage allows women to focus on
getting well.

(3) Research shows that men are more likely to get and die of cancer, with leukemia and cancers of the colon, pancreas and liver killing 1.5 to two times as many men as women in the United States. Still, the American Cancer Society estimated that 852,630 women would be diagnosed with cancer in 2017 - and that's no small number. Cancer insurance can go a long way toward helping women focus on recovery, rather than on financial concerns. A supplemental policy helps protect a patient's income and savings from expenses that aren't covered by major medical insurance, including deductibles; out-of-network specialists; experimental cancer treatment; travel and lodging when treatment is far from home; child care and household help; and normal living expenses, such as the monthly mortgage or rent, car payments, credit card payments, food and utility bills.

The Relay For Life of Greater Plymouth will be held Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17, at Carver Middle High School. The event covers the towns of Plymouth, Carver, Kingston and Plympton.

The Relay For Life of Greater Plymouth includes Survivors and Caregivers Laps, Survivors Reception, Luminaria Ceremony with 5,000-plus candles, music by a DJ, games, decorated campsites, contests, drawings, auctions, live performances and demonstrations, food, ice cream, and much more.
