Issue #157- March 23, 2017

From the Carpenter's Desk:

"There is always a time to make right what is wrong."

-Susan Griffin

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 5:17-19

Today's Gospel really speaks to us all about always looking to what is next. Jesus highlights important aspects of our lives on earth in order to live with Him in the kingdom of heaven. He simply lays out our paths to eternal life with Him if we obey His teachings. We hear that phrase over and over all the time, but do we really live it? We all make mistakes and our students, being teenagers, do it sometimes more often than we would like, but everything good comes from God! How we respond and learn moving forward is most important because we can make right what is wrong! This week's accreditation visit is stressful, time consuming, and a great deal of work, but we as a school community have to look at this process as an opportunity to better ourselves and "make right what is wrong."

I thank God for what I have and all my gifts, but the best way for me, and all of us, to serve the Lord is through our actions and words.
"But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."

We often have a hard time putting God first in our lives. This Lenten season allows us all to improve, learn, and move forward to be better. Developing good habits, changing the way we treat each other, and growing as people and a community are all possible with Jesus. He wants us to join Him in the kingdom of heaven, so He gives it to us straight. We always have the opportunity to improve our lives and the lives of others around us. My hope is that we all see it and take advantage of our opportunities. We have a wonderful community, but there is always room for growth!

Day of Service

Service is at the cornerstone of our mission, and part of educating the whole student. We have several opportunities within our community to provide these worthwhile opportunities to our kids, and look forward to having our students out in the community.

We have secured locations and times for all of our students to do a "Day Of Service",  March 31st, 8am - 12pm. Below is a schedule and faculty chaperone list:

Freshmen - Stay on Campus with Sra. Behnken, Mr. Salvo, and Benito Magana. They will be cleaning the grounds, painting, and taking care of campus.

Sophomores - Half of the class is headed to St. James Parish, to be escorted by Ms. Nedegaard & Mr. Loosemore; the other half to St. Joseph Parish with Ms. Faircloth, Mr. Spiegler, & Mrs. Hughes.

Juniors - Half of the class is headed to CCS with Mr. Peavler & Dr. Serbinowska; the other half to Ogden Nature Center with Mr. Cravens & Mrs. Barker.

Seniors - The entire class is headed to Mary Evans' home, with Mr. Banks, Mr. Hart, Mr. Reinhard, & Mr. Wood. These students will also partake in a retreat during their time.

All students will meet at the school in the morning and then we will bus sophomores and juniors to their locations. Seniors will provide their own transportation. We will provide an exact list of students and their locations in the next couple of weeks.

Students will be doing yard work, cleanup, painting and such and need to be dressed in appropriate clothing. Please make sure that your students are prepared!
