Message from the President
Dear members,
We continue to make preparations for the next IISE Annual Conference in Pittsburgh. Presentations in Applied Solutions and ISERC tracks have been grouped into five clusters (Sustainability Education, Ethics, and Public Policy Making; Sustainable Logistics and Disaster Relief; Sustainable Infrastructure Systems; Green Supply Chains, Sustainable Engineering and Green Operations; Sustainability Assessment Theory) and will include such topics as water supply sustainability, innovation, urban food systems, renewable energy, green supply chain, and organizational waste.
Over 50 abstracts with a variety of application areas and over 20 papers will be presented. If you plan to attend, please register before April 9 and save $170. Below you will find more details regarding the volunteer opportunity and other scheduled events in Pittsburgh. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Did you know that IISE SDD has more than 2,200 members? Of that, 75 percent are students! Of our professional membership, 67 percent are active in industry, and the rest work in academia. The IISE board of directors would also love to welcome our 209 new members this month!

IISE Annual Conference Reminders
IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2017, May 20-23 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh
Around 50 presentations and 23 papers have been submitted to the Social, Economic and Environmental Sustainability track for the 2017
IISE Annual Conference. Congratulations to all the authors whose papers were accepted: we look forward to a high-quality program of presentations this year!

The Sustainable Development division of IISE will be sponsoring this year a networking event at the annual conference in Pittsburgh. The event will be a morning walk and a fun way to see some of the city, exercise, meet people that you don't have a chance to interact with during conference sessions, and start fresh for conference day. Attendees will depart from the Westin lobby promptly at 7 a.m. on May 21, 22 and 23 and will be back around 7:45 a.m. Make sure to bring a water bottle and tennis shoes!
