The Minister's Seniors Service Awards recognize outstanding Albertans of any age who volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of seniors. Alberta Seniors and Housing is currently accepting nominations for the 2017 awards in three categories: 

All nominees will be recognized at community celebrations to be held across Alberta during the summer. The Minister will select up to eight award recipients to be honoured at a special ceremony in the fall of 2017. The nomination deadline is May 19, 2017.

The Active Living Coalition for Older Adults (ALCOA) has rebranded and is now called Active Aging Canada. Active Aging Canada supports lifelong healthy active aging of adult Canadians through participation, education, research, and promotion. They've developed a new user friendly website which contains a variety of helpful resources for practitioners such as tip sheets and Healthy Living Workshop Toolkit.

Seniors, family members, health care professionals and caregivers are welcome to attend these caregiver workshops. Topics for April and May include:

Succulents are very popular these days. They are kept for their ease of care and feeding and their striking appearance. Today, you will see them for sale at garden centers, nurseries, and botanical gardens. Susan Parker from the Edmonton Horticultural Society will walk you through creating and caring for your own succulent arrangement. Bring your own 10-inch or 12-inch pot.
