Program Highlight - Romance Studies Major
Anyone who has studied a Romance language (Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian) or Latin knows that learning one of these languages facilitates learning another. That's why we created the Romance Studies major, in which students develop proficiency in three languages and an understanding of how to act and interact in the cultures in which these languages are spoken. In an increasingly globalized world, knowledge of foreign languages and cultures is essential for those pursuing a career in law, business, medicine, education, government, diplomacy, and international development. Career Corner - Assess Your Skills
April is a great time to reflect on the skills you have developed over the year! Think back on your key experiences since Autumn (e.g., internships, research projects, jobs, involvement in student organizations, studying abroad, volunteering) and identify how your skills have grown through those activities. ASC Career Services created an
assessment resource that makes it easy to rate your skills and to determine areas for future growth. Once you've completed the assessment, compare the results to your resume . . . how well are you describing your skills on your resume? Are there any skill areas that you want to focus on improving as you make the transition from college to career?
Remember to check out FutureLink for internships and other opportunities that can boost your skills. And, consider meeting with a Career Prep Advisor, who can assist with your internship search, in ASC Career Services.

Wexner Center for the Arts Internships

Clinical Pharmacy Panel and WMC/James Hospital Tour
Learn about pharmacy careers and securing a shadowing opportunity. Pharmacy Career Services is holding a tour of the Wexner Medical Center/James Research Hospital that includes HIPPA certification (which will help with future shadowing opportunities) and a panel. Panelists typically specialize in inpatient pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, ambulatory care, nuclear pharmacy, hem/oncology specialist, generalists, medication safety, PGY1 and PSY2. RSVP

Writing Center
The Writing Center offers a variety of writing groups including undergrad thesis, STEP and creative writing groups. They also offer over 300 hours of weekly one-on-one consulting services at Smith Lab, Thompson Library (walk-in) and via online sessions. In addition to course-related writing, you may work with their staff on cover letters, personal statements, manuscripts for publication and creative writing.

10th Annual Political Networks Conference and Workshops
The conference will begin with two days of training workshops covering introductory and advanced topics in network analysis with applications to political science. Museum of Biological Diversity - Open House
Attend the Museum of Biological Diversity's annual open house for a day of biodiversity exploration and discovery. Get a behind-the-scenes view of their world-class collections (insects, mites, plants, fishes, molluscs, birds, mammals and animal sounds), plus meet faculty, staff and students who study the flora and fauna of Ohio and the world. There will be an Anthropod Petting Zoo, Seedling Planting, Bugs-in-Goo and more.

Adobe Creative Jam
Join us for an inspiring two-part design experience that demonstrates and celebrates creativity. The Adobe Creative Cloud team will host the Creative Jam presentations. This one-hour design showcase highlights the work of three local creative leaders. Design teams will compete in the Creative Jam tournament, a 3-hour design charrette showdown. There will be three categories: graphic design, photography and video editing. You may also have your portfolio reviewed be a design professional. Deadline to register for the review is April 9. Fulbright U.S. Student Program
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers opportunities for students to study, research or teach abroad while promoting cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding. Cara Malek, supervisor of DreamWorks's Character Technology team, presents
How Would A Dragon Fly? The Science & Art of Rigging Animated Characters.
Before an animated dragon can fly or a panda can execute a kung fu kick, a character rigger must design and create the digital puppet to bring the character to life. part anatomy, part computer science, part sculpture, character rigging is a challenging, interesting blend of aesthetics and usability. Malek has 10-years rigging experience and shares how it's done. Read more.

Spring Dance Concert
The Department of Dance presents its Spring Dance Concert, where undergraduate and graduate students present solo and group works that express diverse ideas and approaches to movement. Student choreographers created 11 new works to be performed at this event. Seating is limited so advance tickets are encouraged. Student tickets are $10. More info and performance times
