American Cities of the Future Ranking by Financial Times fdi

Northumberland Manufacturers' Association Receives Eastern Ontario Development Program Support

The Northumberland Manufacturers' Association (NMA) will benefit from an investment announced on March 13th by Northumberland CFDC and Kim Rudd, Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South.

The Northumberland CFDC is pleased to provide support for Eastern Ontario Youth STEM and Technical Skilled Trades Job Creation Pilot Program with an investment of $488,000 under the Eastern Ontario Development Program's Collaborative Economic Development Projects stream with a total project cost of up to $1.4 million. The funding will invest in the next generation of young STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and technical skilled trades graduates in rural Eastern Ontario's advanced manufacturing sector, resulting in 23 new full time positions which will benefit Eastern Ontario.


New Twenty20 Pilot Program for Eastern Ontario Manufacturing Sector Investing ~ $1.4M in STEM and Technical Skilled Trades Job Creation

The Northumberland Manufacturers' Association (NMA) announced the launch of Twenty20, a new pilot program investing ~ $1.4M in the next generation of young, primarily women, STEM and technical skilled trades graduates. The new pilot program is a rural Eastern Ontario advanced manufacturing sector employer job creation grant that will help ensure competitive access to and retention of young talent.

Summer Company is accepting applications to the program for 2017.
Summer Company is a youth entrepreneurship program that connects youth ages 15-29 with training, mentorship and funding to start a summer business.

As entrepreneurs go, Shahram Yousefi is something of a paradox - a "black sheep," as he puts it. Most entrepreneurs hope to strike it rich. Not that he'd mind, probably, but first and foremost, the professor in Queen's department of electrical and computer engineering is looking for solutions to problems. Entrepreneurs are single-minded. Once they have an idea, they clamp on like an angry pit bull, to the exclusion of everything else. He has not one but two seemingly different ideas, both of which he is passionate about. And, in a world where new ideas and products are hailed for their "disruptive" potential, he says that, at the root of what he does is "my passion for harmony."
