Diocesan outcomes will continue to be taught in all curriculum areas with the use of multiple resources including textbooks. The Diocese is currently on a seven year curriculum adoption cycle with math as the next curriculum to be reviewed and adopted. A curriculum team with representatives from all campuses is being formed. Together, the diocesan schools review curriculum outcomes on a regular seven year cycle. This structured approach delineates the philosophy and outcomes that guide the learning experiences, instructional resources, and assessments that comprise our diocesan approach to curriculum. Additionally, it represents an articulation of what students should know and be able to do and supports teachers in knowing how to achieve these goals. 

This past year we have been reviewing and updating world languages, physical education, music, technology, and math. The principals and teacher curriculum committees work together to complete a comprehensive review. The sequence of tasks include: philosophy review, identifying overarching outcomes that guide instruction, development of a coherent and articulated progression of skills from grade to grade, use of a framework for how the goals can be achieved, the implementation of new materials, reviewing of testing data, and the identification of resources and professional development needed for ongoing improvement. As we implement best practices, we strive for academic excellence.

The teachers will be working together on how best to implement the outcomes at the campus sites using the materials and resources that are already in use. Part of the decision-making will be determining if additional materials need to be purchased to support any identified gaps before the end of the school year. Flowing from our curriculum decisions, we will update report cards to provide more uniformity among the campuses. The principals recently decided that all campuses will use trimester reporting.

Furthermore, discussions are taking place to identify meaningful traditions from each campus that will be honored and carried forth in planning such as plays, musical programs, special field trips, and all signature pieces to which our students, teachers, and families have identified as important.
