D90 Vision for Technology - Kevin Martin, Lindsay Johnson, Cindy Crannell, Annmarie Clasky
Kevin Martin, Director of Technology and Technology Specialists Annmarie Clasky, Cindy Crannell, and Lindsay Johnson presented an update on the Technology Department's initiatives that support classroom instruction. The presentation reviewed the initial results of the BrightBytes Technology Survey and updated Board members on the newly-formed Technology Committee.  The BrightBytes survey analyzes how the District's students, families, faculty, and staff use technology. The Technology Department uses the survey results to inform decisions about the District's technology environment.  Results from the Technology Department's second BrightBytes survey indicated that the District's overall score had improved since the first survey. The District's results also indicate alignment with comparable school districts. Information was also provided on professional development initiatives, and the three legs of the Technology Department -- devices, data and curriculum.

The 20-member Technology Committee is comprised of faculty members and Technology Specialists. The Committee meets monthly and is focused on the District's technology environment including professional development. One of the goals for professional development is to help teachers learn the skills to be able to embed technology in classroom instruction. The Technology Department has developed a variety of methods for teachers to learn these skills including offsite seminars, breakfast meetings, and hands-on training sessions at schools. Dr. Condon complimented the members of the Technology Department for their efforts to keep the District's technology infrastructure current and supportive of classroom instruction. There was a brief discussion by Board members about the District's technology environment.  Additional information can be viewed in the Board Packet.
