Thank You, Volunteers!
The 900 volunteers we host in our kitchen each month are from all walks of life. Whether they're students on alternative spring break, employees from our corporate partners, or individuals looking to give back - our volunteers are the backbone of Community Servings.

During National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 23-29) we're celebrating our volunteers and all the amazing work they do. Please join us for a special volunteer celebration party on Thursday, April 27 th from 6PM-8PM. This family-friendly party will feature an awards ceremony, food, and games.

Cinnamon & Spice
Sweet Potato Bread
Sweet potatoes keep this  bread extremely soft and moist! A mix of  comforting and warming spices complement the
sweet potato, resulting in a robustly-spiced bread,  full of hearty flavor.

Here's A Sweet Fact:
Sweet potatoes are a great source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber absorbs water in the digestive track and forms a gel-like substance, helping to slow digestion, lower cholesterol levels, and keep blood sugar steady. Insoluble fiber speeds up the flow of food through the digestive system.  Women should try to eat 21-25 grams of fiber per day. Men should aim for 30-38 grams per day.

Tip from our dietitians: fill half your plate with colorful fruits and vegetables, like orange sweet potatoes. The more color on your plate, the better!
