PODS LITE RELEASED
118 Downloads in First Week!

On April 10, 2017, PODS Lite was released. There is a buzz in the air about this new direction in which PODS is headed. The first release of the PODS Association's transformative new pipeline data model, PODS Lite is a  subset of the full PODS Pipeline Data Model Version 7.0 resulting from the Association's Next Generation initiative. PODS Lite was downloaded approximately 118 times in the first week.

Available in this first release in geodatabase format for use with Esri ArcGIS, PODS Lite is being made available as a zip file containing robust documentation - 12 documents in all - including step-by-step configuration guidelines for use with Esri's ArcGIS for Pipelines extension for ArcGIS Pro, a conceptual model diagram, data dictionaries and more.
PODS Lite will soon be available for other platforms including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and PostGIS . The complete PODS Pipeline Data Model Version 7.0 is scheduled to be released in 2018.

2017 PODS FORUM
Thank You Presenters and Attendees

Over 80 Forum attendees engaged in conversation about how PODS works and how it can best serve members' needs during the 2017 PODS Forum. This year's Forum was held in conjunction with the Esri Petroleum Conference in Houston Texas on April 11th.

New this year, the Forum included a panel discussion as well as several presentations.  The panelist discussion format was met with positive response and resulted in lively and productive conversation  providing the PODS Association with valuable feedback to inform and shape Association activities and services The PODS Association Board and Working Groups have taken away many ideas and concerns that will be considered as we continually bring value to our members by making improvements and listening to what the industry needs for an optimal and robust data model.

The PODS Association would like to thank Forum presenters from the PODS Association Board of Directors, Working Groups and Committees,  including:

Kirk Cameron,  New Century Software
Chad Corcoran,  Tesoro
Dan Feinberg,  Woolpert
Katrin Franke, Transcanada
Paul Herrmann,  Chevron
Andy Morris,  DCP Midstream
Buddy Nagel,  Kinder Morgan
Michael Ray,  Geofields
Peter Veenstra,  TRC

All of these presenters and many others behind the scenes devote their time to the PODS Association in addition to their regular jobs in the pipeline industry, and we appreciate their dedication.
P ODS LITE AND PODS  AT THE  Esri PETROLEUM GIS CONFERENCE (PUG)

During the Esri PUG Conference in Houston April 12-13th, there were a number of breakout se ssions offered about  PODS Lite, Next Generation and the PODS Association.

In the 'ArcGIS for Pipelines' session, Esri provided an introduction to and demonstration of their pipeline data management extension for ArcGIS Pro. In this session, it was noted that the Esri pipeline data management extension is data model agnostic, noting that both PODS Lite and the full Next Generation PODS Pipeline Data Model will work seamlessly with the extension.

In addition,  a pre-conference Ar cGIS for Pipeline R eferencing (APR) training was conducted which used ArcGIS Pro, Esri's ArcGIS for Pipelines extension to ArcGIS Pro and PODS Lite .

On Thursday afternoon Peter Veenstra, PODS Association BOD Vice President, presented PODS Lite to about 130 attendees of the Pipeline Track at the Esri PUG Conference. Peter provided an overview of the PODS Association and the PODS Lite data model as a subset of the CORE PODS 7.0 release being developed by the Next Generation Work Group. The presentation showed PODS Lite as a viable alternative to those considering implementing a data model to support the Esri APR release.
