December 2017
2017 was another banner year for the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce. There has been so much to celebrate that we even themed this year's annual dinner "Celebrate Cayuga". This past year, we created and revived numerous programs. We kicked off the year with our first ever Restaurant Week, which was a huge success (mark your calendars for Restaurant Week 2018: January 20-27). We reinvigorated our educational offerings with a new seminar series, and restarted our Advocacy Committee. We also refreshed a couple of our annual events by making some adjustments, such as combining the Phyllis Goldman Award presentation into the Annual Awards Luncheon. These adjustments really helped to create new energy.

In 2018, we will continue these efforts and continue to find new ways to provide value to our members and community. We will focus on rebuilding a Member-to-Member Discount program and collaborate with local and regional partners on advocacy and strategic initiatives. The Chamber Foundation will also be considering new ways to support the Chamber's charitable and educational programs in the year ahead. Please continue to keep an eye out for opportunities to provide input, and continue coming out to events and seminars. It's always nice to see you, and we truly enjoy bringing everyone together.

There are many people working behind the scenes to accomplish all of this, so I'd like to extend my sincerest gratitude to staff, board and committee members, ambassadors, sponsors, and volunteers. May you have and create another wonderful year!

IGNITE

IGNITE will be holding an IGNITE Membership Party on Friday, January 26th at the Case Mansion from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Admission will be $20; which will include an IGNITE membership for one year, food, drinks and access to informational talks at the event.
IGNITE is always interested in increasing membership and thought a membership party was a great idea to kick off the new year. Not everyone is aware of what IGNITE is and does for the community; so I thought I would take the time to do a brief history to answer some of these questions.  READ MORE

ARISE Cayuga/Seneca has moved into a new home to accommodate its growth and its clients.
The nonprofit independent living center, which works with people who have disabilities, has packed up its Auburn location on Genesee Street and moved into 21 Lincoln St., also known as Lincoln South.
Regional Director Kate Budlong said it's an exciting time for the organization. Serving individuals since 1979, the Auburn branch of ARISE opened up about four years ago after merging with the former Options for Independence. The office serves about 2,000 people per year in both Cayuga and Seneca counties through individual services, advocacy and information referrals. READ MORE
