Iowa and CogAT Testing
Students are taking the IOWA and CogAT tests this week. Students in 1st – 8th grade are taking these assessment tests April 3-11, so our campus is closed to outside visitors during this time. Please make every effort to have your child/ren to school on time each day, and be sure that they get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast. These nationally-normed assessments provide us with data that helps us analyze individual student progress, evaluate our overall curriculum and create goals for continuous improvement. So we thank you for making them a priority for your family.

Library News - From Mrs. Lamb
Happy April and Happy Reading! Spring is here, birds are chirping, and bees are buzzing. A big round of applause goes out to all of my students who have diligently read each day for the Book IT! Program from September to March. I hope you also added some tasty toppings to our PIZZA in the elementary hallway. That paper pizza looks pretty yummy filled with all the toppings represented by the strips of pepperoni and cheese shaped papers designating all the stories read by students. Thanks to Mrs. Drewes and the NJHS members for building our pizza and making the shapes for us.
BOOK FAIR: The spring Book Fair is just around the corner! The fair will be open Tuesday, April 18 through Friday, April 21 from 7:40 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Our vendor, S.W. Books, is working to have our summer reading titles available for you to purchase. You win two ways: 1) you don’t have to shop around to find these titles, and 2) the school library benefits from the proceeds of the sale of these books! We will accept VISA, MASTERCARD, cash and Checks payable to StJPII for the fair. I hope you can stop in to see the many lovely books that our fair has to offer.
One last important item…please remember we are in our last nine weeks of school. The Library will be closing for inventory and end of year before you know it. Remember to return all books and fines on time to receive final report cards. We give pink slips each week to students. We have been in school many weeks, so students should understand how important this matter is to our school Library. Thank you for helping your child to return books on time to avoid any delay in report cards. Happy Reading!

NJHS Volunteers at Ballard House
On March 9 and March 21, the StJPII National Junior Honor Society cooked and served dinner and provided fellowship for the residents at Ballard House. Members cooked, set up, served, washed dishes, swept, and visited with residents. Serving those in need was a wonderful way to share our time and talent, and a beautiful reminder of service during this Lenten season.
People come from around the world to receive top quality care here in Houston, and many find a “home away from home” at the Ballard House. The Ballard House is a part of Cinco Charities, and it serves the needs of those who require treatment at the Houston medical centers. Patients and their families receive free housing while a loved one is undergoing treatment. Thank you, NJHS, for your service!

Ambassador Program Update
New students are completing registration for the 2017-2018 school year and we need YOUR help welcoming these new families!
Our school is blessed to have about 60
NEW
families joining our StJPII community--most all of them with children starting in Pre-K through 1st grades, but there are new students in every grade. We invite you to consider becoming an Ambassador Family to help welcome these new families into our StJPII community. It would be wonderful for these new students to find a friendly and familiar face during those first few days and weeks at their new school. All current families are qualified and we need you!
More information about becoming an Ambassador family can be found on the school website.
Thank You!
The Hospitality Committee would like to thank the following volunteers for bringing snacks to the Faculty Meeting- Analia Gugliotti, Jennifer Gomez, Mary Trahan, Alicia Rehfeld, Hazel Mohan, Sanjuana Valdez, Denise Zaldivar, Gail Anderson, Julie Descant, Joy Ramsaran, Danille LaLonde, Vicky Nehme, Lizette Maya, Nicole Lambert, Anne Davis and Victoria Forkner.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Our Baseball team had only one game last week due to the rain! We played a home game against St. Vincent de Paul and had a tough loss. The game against St. Cecilia got rained out, so be on the lookout as we will post the rescheduled date on the school calendar.
Our Lady Saints squeezed their 2 games in with a great win against St. Cecilia, but then had their first loss of the season against St. Vincent de Paul.
