The 2017 session of the Maryland General Assembly concluded last Monday, April 10, at midnight. Now that we have had a week to rest and recover, we can celebrate some victories and digest the impact of the many pieces of legislation that passed and how they affect the behavioral health in our community.

BHSB achieved several successes this session, such as the passing of the HOPE Act, which included language from the Keep the Door Open Act. We know that there is much work is needed to implement many of these initiatives, and that we must continue our advocacy to support behavioral health and wellness. Thank you to everyone who advocated on behalf of behavioral health this session. If you joined us at the KTDO Rally in Annapolis, or emailed and called your representatives, or participated in our social media campaign-we could not have done it without you!

Our work will continue so stay tuned in for updates on BHSB's advocacy activities by visiting  our website .
