Is your church doing something to help build a just world for all? We want to know! Make a 30-60 second video of you or someone from your church telling us what you're doing.
Your video can show us anything you're doing to make a difference in caring for all God's children and God's creation. Some examples include:
- Your food pantry or food drive
- After-school program
- Tutoring
- Participation in community projects
- Help for the homeless
- Working to protect the environment
- Housing rehab
Send your video to [email protected] and your church will be featured on screen at General Synod in Baltimore this summer! 3 things to remember:
- Video should be 30-60 seconds long.
- Shoot your video horizontally (hold the phone sideways).
- Email your video to [email protected] by May 30.
Thanks! We can't wait to see and hear your story!

A Call For Covenantal Elders
The Elders in our association are a link between congregations and the association. Elders visit to learn about congregations and offer referrals and insights as requested. This year the Elders will also be gathering information for Church and Vitality in the process of developing a resource guide to assist in networking congregations.
Please note the new groupings of elders and congregations:
Shirley and Rev Herb Hicks continue to share ministry and insights with United in Granville, Highwater in Newark, St John's in Newark, Oasis in Pickerington and Trinity in Thornville.
Rev Bill Miles and Shirley Long continue with St Michael's in Baltimore, Trinity in Baltimore, St Paul in Glenford, and Zion in Thornville.
Marilyn Lloyd is in relationship with Zion in Delaware, First in Mt Vernon, Congregational in Radnor, St John's in Columbus, Grace in Columbus and Evangelical in Portsmouth.
Revs Herb and Mary Ann Goetz share insights and stories with Advent Columbus, Dublin Community, North in Columbus, Trinity in Columbus. Mary Ann will join Marilyn for Evangelical in Portsmouth and Herb will connect with First in Marysville.
Richard and Yvonne Teeters continue to enjoy Orchard Hill Chillicothe, Grace Lancaster, Clearport Mt Carmel Lancaster, United in Mt Sterling, Heidelberg in Stoutsville and St Paul's in Columbus.
Congregations for whom we are still seeking volunteers include: Congregational in Belpre; First in Marietta, Little Muskingum in Marietta, Second in Marietta, Bridges in Charleston, First in Huntington, David's in Canal Winchester, First Congregational in Columbus, and Move United in Columbus.
Blessings. Rev Linda
Pastoral Practice
Wikipedia:
A pastoral practice refers to how an idea is applied or is used when giving spiritual care or guidance. That usually occurs in "pastoral ministry" and pastoral care when leading somebody closer to God either in spiritual formation, teaching, counseling, or in liturgy. In liturgy, the pastoral practice can refer to an occasional event such as blessing fathers on Father's Day. It can also refer to an ongoing structure in the liturgy such as Mass in the local language or turning the altar so that the officiant faces the congregation. In the second case, the practice would refer to a habitual or customary action or way of doing something.
We are continuing to form groups for pastoral practice. These groups are designed to be worshipful retreat, collegial support/accountability and professional enhancement. They generally meet monthly for about 3 or 4 hours.
There are functioning groups and newly forming groups. A loose accounting follows:
Marti Baumer with: Dwight Davidson, Virginia Lohmann Bauman; David Long Higgins; Mindy Quellhorst; Sigrid Rother; Kate Shaner; Robert Tussing; Eric Williams;
Eric Williams
with: Terry Williams, Robin Knowles Wallace, RevLinda, Emily Corzine, Beth Stanton, Joyce Oyler; Steve Baxter, Rachel Gardner
Nancy Livingston
with: Jo Anne Nay, Kay Albright, Marilyn Marshall Goetz, Linda Steelman
Next to form
: Tim Ahern, Jay Groat,
Other
group: Scott Elliott (Mt Vernon), Jill Dunlap (Trinity, Baltimore), Melodie Rezac (Zion Thornville), Mindy Quellhorst (Lancaster), Dwight Davidson (Granville), Mark Katrick (Newark), Scott Casebeer (Mt Vernon, chaplain resident at Ohio Health), Whitney Bruno (St Michael's Baltimore) and Scott Schieber.
If you are interested in participating and have not been contacted about joining, please contact RevLinda

to join in the blessing.
May your blessings be greater with each passing day.
Rev Linda The Next Pastoral Practice Meeting is Wednesday, April 26th at 6:30p at the Association Office. We will review groups and training insight.

While the traditional Christian story suggests a steady development from Jesus to Paul
and on to the Church "Fathers," over the last 150 years this story has proven false. Early
Christians did not even call themselves Christian!
What were these unknown Christianities like?
Why were they lost? And what can we learn from texts like the
Gospel of Thomas that were valued by early communities much as Christians today value
the books of the New Testament?

The Story Continues...
Excellent Pastors United in Internet Conversation
|
Revival
As we seek to discover and experience a new paradigm for the Central Southeast Association of the Ohio Conference United Church of Christ, join me in a series of shared experiences with revival.
I propose we begin with internet conversations and build up to a joyous gathering of dreamers and pilgrims. Visionaries and storytellers who will help clarify our direction and our roles in the world. Persons of faith who love Jesus Christ and believe we can be a movement rather than a rigid religion. I propose we start out calling this experience - Excellent Pastors United.
Some scripture that we can begin to explore together would include: Ephesians 3:14-23; Colossians 1; Philippians 1. Prayers discernment and wisdom to abound and love to prevail.
My vision entails ministers of music, ministers of preaching, ministers of teaching, ministers of healing, ministers of prophecy all coming together with a common goal of unity and love.
Will you join me?
