2016 Annual Report Now Available

The 2016 City of Fredericksburg Annual Report is now available on the City website at www.fbgtx.org.  Print copies will be available at City Hall later this month.  The Annual Report is produced by the Communications Department each year to showcase the activities and accomplishments of the City for citizen review.
Transportation Master Plan

The City of Fredericksburg is developing a transportation plan that will address improvements for existing and future motor vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian mobility.  Planners will use this master plan as a guide for development for a future safe and efficient transportation system.

Consultants at Kimley Horn were selected to conduct a study and create a formal plan.  A day long workshop was held on January 20th with various City departments and TxDOT to discuss priorities and areas of concern.  That same day an open house was held to gather public input.  The open house included a mapping exercise during which each citizen was given $5 million to spend on transportation related projects such as roads, bike lanes, multi-use trails, and sidewalks.  The goal was to give the participants a sense of how far dollars spent would go.  The exercise also served to gauge the participants priorities.  On March 6th a similar activity was conducted with City Council. Consultants and City staff met with FISD to discuss traffic issues that impact FISD campuses.

The City and Kimley Horn are reviewing current plans and priorities from city council, staff, and citizens and plan to revise the Capital Improvement Plan and future thoroughfare plan based on current and future traffic projections. Throughout the process, the City will continue to ask for public input in the form of online surveys and emails.
Downtown Parking Study

In another study underway there is a comprehensive study of parking issues in downtown Fredericksburg  to improve the experience of doing business in the area. Representatives of the the Goodman Corporation, the consultant firm conducting the study, held a public meeting at the March 13th City Council meeting as a first step in the process.

A reminder!  If you like the City Update, pass it on.  We are happy to build our audience to reach more of the citizens of Fredericksburg.
