We all need a change sometimes. Our lives get into a rut, the same routine, same trip to work, school or appointments. Same worries over money, house, apartment, car, kids, school, health, pretty much everything. There is only one person that can make those routines and worries easier to handle. There is one person that can make everything in our lives joyful. That person is Jesus.
Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
Our turning to Him can change our lives. The more we turn to Him and rely on Him the more we feel His presence in our lives. So how do we do this, how do we turn to Him more. One of the best ways is to take some action. Jesus notices the smallest action, and all of Heaven notices as well. So, with Heaven cheering us on, here are some ideas:
If you: Wake up every morning and say, "Good morning Jesus, Mary, Joseph, God the Father, Holy Spirit, and Angels and Saints," this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Go to confession. The priest stands in the place of Jesus and you can reconcile yourself to Jesus and free yourself from all those past sins. This will make a big change in your life.
If you: Pray one Hail Mary every day, this will make a big change in your life. (Jesus loves his mom so much, if we love her, He loves us more)
If you: Pray one Mystery of the Rosary every day you will get great protection from evil. Mary is the Queen of Heaven and crushes the head of Satan, this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Set up a home altar with a crucifix and other religious items, Jesus loves it when we honor Him, this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Read the readings of the day for mass, we will learn more about Jesus and this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Stop what you're doing for one moment each day and just ask Jesus to help you, this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Add one additional mass per week, receiving Jesus' body and blood in the Eucharist, this will make a big change in your life.
(St. Bart's, Tuesday 6:00 PM in the chapel, 30 minutes long; Wednesday 9:00 AM in the church, 45 minutes long; Thursday 8:00 AM in the chapel 30 minutes long; check the bulletin for changes)
If you: Go to mass every day for one week, this will make a big change in your life.
If you: Begin the Liturgy of the Hours, known as the Divine Office, which can be difficult to learn (but very rewarding), this will make a big change in your life.
Turning towards Jesus gives Him the chance to change your life. The changes he would like to make in us are the changes that will bring you, and your family, freedom here on earth and a glorious eternity in Heaven. We will all meet Jesus in person one day, let's be friends with Him now, let's be ready to meet Him always and take the actions we need to take to make that happen. Jesus loves you more than anyone on earth, he created you, let's thank Him always for the great gifts he bestows on us.
