Free - Middle School Vignettes on Improving Parent-Middle Schooler Communication
Wed, Apr 19, 7-9 pm, Jordan MPR
Jordan is thrilled to present an evening of parental dialogue, discussion, and community building. The event will be led by current PAUSD parent, Dr. Rona Hu. Dr. Hu is a Clinical Associate Professor of Behavioral Science & Psychiatry at Stanford. Dr. Hu has developed and will present a series of vignettes that focus on difficult interactions between parents and middle schoolers, play them the default way, take questions in character from the audience, then play them a different way, with different consequences. This models for the audience how subtle differences in communication can have a major impact. The vignettes are inspired from real life, and played by "actors" from Stanford department of psychiatry: students, faculty, and young doctors. While Dr. Hu had presented such events about parent-teen interactions, this is the debut of the middle school series, which will showcase middle school parent-child conversations.
Translation will be available in Spanish and Mandarin and may be followed by small group discussions in those languages, if needed. Hosted by Jordan and funded by PTAC, Palo Alto PTA Council.
Please sign up here.
