In February, we made an investment in Capital Public Radio - that is, providing financial support in return for gaining announcements of our upcoming events. It has made a huge difference. We're thrilled by the turnout to our recent site tours and anticipate the same reception for Katie's Urban Cohousing Presentation on April 19th. At our last site tour, we gained 3 new "Explorer" members!
About 25 joined us on the land and a few for lunch afterwards at Burgers & Brew (nearly opened). We discussed the path to membership and most especially our
Explorer option of $250. This gives you a chance to deepen your sense of the project while holding your place in priority for unit selection.
More details below.
Come meet each other at our
April 22nd potluck, and stop by our table at the Sacramento Earth Day Festival in Southside Park on
April 23rd.
Many California cohousing
communities will open their doors April 29th for Cohousing Open House Day, don't miss out! And there's still time to register for May's
National Cohousing Conference.
We encourage you to attend multiple events with us to further your understanding and explore the concept with new people at the table.
Feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone who you think may be interested.

Spotlight: Path to Membership
|
Are you considering cohousing, ready to learn more about this exciting urban community, and want to hold your spot in Washington House unit selection?
Take advantage of our $250 Explorer option, which gives you a chance to deepen your understanding of the project while holding your priority for unit selection.
And ask yourself, "what's stopping me from making this decision?" Then talk to us at an upcoming event or via phone/email, to cohousing expert Katie (at April 19th's presentation), to your financial advisor and to each other to help you prepare for taking the next step with our community's development process.
Once you've come on with us as an explorer, we ask that you become a full member within 60 days in order to maintain your "spot in line." Remember, your contributions will be credited toward your final payment for your home, dollar for dollar (and with incentives for early capital outlay).
Are you ready to take the next step with us?

Momentum, and Sailing Too
Our community is gaining momentum - things are speeding up. We're working assiduously toward gaining the membership needed to move ahead. Interestingly for me (Anne), this is both exiting and a little scary. It means we're really serious, looking for those ready to join in this creative, adventurous journey.
Momentum is a powerful energy and we don't want to waste it. I'm reminded of sailing, where gaining the momentum of the wind brings movement and the possibility for efficient travel. When I first learned to sail, the fast movement was scary and I wanted to stop.
Now, in this endeavor, I have wonderful partners and I know that we can move forward effectively toward our goal.
Come join with us and be part of this design process!
And, if you have any interest in sailing, West Sacramento has a wonderful club on Lake Washington, a shallow delta lake that was used to create the Port of West Sacramento. The Lake Washington Sailing Club has its open house with free sailing on April 29th from 10:30am - 3:30pm (
flyer here). It's a great family-oriented club and the afternoon delta breeze is great for sailing.

Morning Collaboration at Carol's
Every week, on either a Monday or Tuesday morning, we (Alex & Anne) meet at Carol's, a longtime favorite coffee shop across from City Hall. Carol's opened in 1988, just one year after the incorporation of the City of West Sacramento. We love their generous breakfasts. We've come to know each other (one of the benefits of cohousing) as we build the foundation and set priories for our cohousing endeavor.
Recently, I (Anne) parked at our site at 4th & G Streets and walked to Carol's (1201 West Capitol Ave) to see how long it would take. I clocked in at about 16 minutes. This means Carol's could be a great spot for breakfast when we're living in our new community.
We invite you to join us if you're in the neighborhood.
