Tips to keep your home smelling amazing and naturally clean.
You may not realize how many harmful chemicals we breathe just from the products we choose to buy. Here are some ideas to help you live healthier in your space.
1) Diffuse natural aromas in your home rather than synthetic fragrances
Aromatic plug-ins which contain synthetic fragrances are not advisable.They are potentially hazardous to your health. Replace synthetic electric plug-ins or scented candles for an aromatic essential oil experience. Essential oils have therapeutic properties and they smell terrific - it's a win, win! All you need are your chosen oils and a nebulizer and you'll be on your way to home that smells great and actually enhances your health.
2) Add essential oils to your cleaning products
If you prefer your name-brand cleaning products, purchase the unscented type and add your own essential oils to the product. This is a safer solution than purchasing fragrant cleaning products. My favorite essential oils to include in my cleaning arsenal are: Eucalyptus, Thyme, Pine, Orange, Lemon and Bergamot.
3) Use essential oils in place of name-brand cleaning products
It is easy to use essential oils as an alternative to harsher products. I mix Bergamot essential oil with
hot water and some vinegar when mopping my ceramic floors. The house smells like paradise. For floors you would need approximately a teaspoon of essential oil to a half gallon of water.
Eucalyptus,Tea Tree, Orange and Peppermint can be purchased in 1 oz sizes on our website. For even larger quantities, ask us and we can provide this for almost any oil we carry. (do not use essential oils on wood or linoleum floors)
Make your own kitchen countertop spray. Here is a great recipe especially for granite counters. Use on appliances and in the bathroom.
2 Tbs of isopropyl alcohol or vodka (everclear)
2 drops of castile soap or (or liquid soap)
7 drops of Thyme essential oil
7 drops of Eucalyptus OR Tea Tree essential oil
Water
In a 8 oz. spray bottle add the alcohol, then the essential oils. Let sit for 5 minutes, then add the soap and water. Shake and label.
