Whether you're just starting or have been in business for years, being smart about your marketing budget is never a bad idea. This course will look at email marketing, social media, website, and in person strategies to grow your business. We'll talk about how to evaluate scams, figuring out who your customers are, and when it is 'worth it' to hire someone to help versus DIY. If you want to save time or money or both, we have you covered.

New information for W-2 scam victims
W-2 scam

The IRS has established a process that will allow businesses and payroll service providers to quickly report any data losses related to the W - 2 scam currently making the rounds. See details at   Form W2/SSN Data Theft: Information for Businesses and Payroll Service Providers. If notified in time, the IRS can take steps to prevent employees from being victimized by identity thieves filing fraudulent returns in their names. There also is information about how to report receiving the scam email.

As a reminder, tax professionals who experience a data breach also should quickly report the incident to the IRS. Tax professionals may contact their local stakeholder liaison.
Eastern Illustrating and Publishing, Co.
On Maine Public Television

Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m.

The Northeast by Eastern tells the story of the Eastern Illustrating and Publishing Co., Belfast's own real photo postcard manufacturer. As most of you know, over 50,000 negatives from the Eastern Illustrating and Publishing Co. are part of Penobscot Marine Museum's extensive photographic archive. This film is an example of the value of the photographs entrusted to our care.

The photographic images in Penobscot Marine Museum's archive are used by authors, teachers, students, researchers, genealogists and have been used in films, books, articles, research papers, exhibits, on websites, and as decoration. They help us tell stories, put faces to names, describe in a way not possible with words, and offer a window to the past.

Although the cost to digitize, store, and catalog our collections is high, we strive to make these images available to be viewed by anyone in the world with an internet connection for free.

Please consider a contribution to support the efforts of Penobscot Marine Museum's Photo Archives.

Neighbor4neighbor Fund Now Accepting Applications
Grants for seniors

What neighbor4neighbor Fund, a program of Healthy Acadia, is now accepting applications from seniors for grants up to $500 for unexpected expenses

Where:  Hancock and Washington counties

Dates and Time:  Applications accepted year-round. Apply online:  https://healthyacadia.org/documents/GrantApplication_neighbor4neighbor_001.pdf

The neighbor4neighbor Fund, a program of Healthy Acadia, is now accepting applications from seniors who are facing any one of many life crises which arise unexpectedly and for which a senior may not have adequate funds. The neighbor4neighbor Fund's mini-grants, capped at $500.00, cover such things as new eyeglasses, dentures, medical equipment, household repairs, or other one-time challenges which can arise and undermine a senior's ability to live independently and have a high quality of life.

The philosophy of the neighbor4neighbor Fund is that small grants can make a big difference in a senior's life and the fund works to provide this kind of financial assistance. The goal is to help people to be healthy, stay in their homes and be able to function independently. Many seniors are struggling just to meet their most basic needs, so unexpected expenses are not part of their budget.

The neighbor4neighbor Fund is open to seniors in both Hancock and Washington Counties and is administered by Healthy Acadia.   Please contact Nina Zeldin at 667-7171 or  [email protected]  to receive an application or learn more about neighbor4neighbor. Applications can also be downloaded from the home page of Healthy Acadia's website:  https://healthyacadia.org/documents/GrantApplication_neighbor4neighbor_001.pdf .

Bucksport Arts Festival returns in August
August arts

The 3rd Annual Bucksport Arts Festival will be returning to the waterfront this August with thanks to the generous support of Seaboard Federal Credit Union. As the primary sponsor in 2016, Seaboard FCU will continue their support for 2017 in recognition that the arts are part of a healthy, thriving community.  As a member-owned cooperative, Seaboard FCU is a vital part of the community itself and strives to provide quality financial services to all members at fair and reasonable rates and terms. Supporting the Festival is yet another way for Seaboard FCU to support their members, business partners, and community.

Forty artists have recently been selected to participate this summer. These fine artists and craftspeople will be showcasing a diverse selection of good for all to enjoy, including: paintings, drawings, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, fiber, glass, and woodworking. Several familiar faces will be returning from previous years, and many new artists will also participating for the first time. All proceeds of the 2017 Festival will benefit Main Street Bucksport, our non-profit partner whose mission is to promote a vibrant downtown Bucksport by supporting existing businesses, attracting new businesses, and supporting cultural arts events.

The Festival is currently seeking food vendors to feed the crowds on Saturday, August 12th.  Vendors of all kinds are encouraged to apply, although preference will be given to local businesses with artisanal quality food.  Interested vendors should contact  [email protected]  for an application.
