The Ladies Guild of St. Sarkis Church hosted an amazing New Year's Eve party on Saturday December 31, 2016. A beautifully decorated hall, great music, superb main course, a delightful Venetian table and wonderful raffle prizes were the highlights of the night.
Shortly after ring in 2017, a unique prayer service was offered in the sanctuary of St. Sarkis Church presided over by His Grace Bishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Vicar General.
We thank the committee members for all the hard work to make this celebration a memorable event.

THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO MATTHEW (2.13-23)
Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him."
Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, "Out of Egypt I have called my son."
When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, he was infuriated, and he sent and killed all the children in and around Bethlehem who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had learned from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what had been spoken through the prophet Jeremiah:
"A voice was heard in Ramah,
wailing and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be consoled, because they are no more."
When Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child's life are dead." Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And after being warned in a dream, he went away to the district of Galilee. There he made his home in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, "He will be called a Nazorean."
ՅԻՍՈՒՍ ՔՐԻՍՏՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԸ ԸՍՏ ՄԱՏԹԷՈՍԻ (2.13-23)
Երբ մոգերը Բեթլեհէմէն մեկնեցան, Տիրոջ հրեշտակը Յովսէփի երեւցաւ երազի մը մէջ եւ ըսաւ.- Ել, առ մանուկն ու մայրը եւ փախիր Եգիպտոս. հոն մնա մինչեւ որ ըսեմ քեզի, որովհետեւ Հերովդէս կը փնտռէ մանուկը՝ զայն սպաննելու համար:
Յովսէփ արթնցաւ, գիշերով առաւ մանուկն ու անոր մայրը եւ գնաց Եգիպտոս, ուր մնաց մինչեւ Հերովդէսի մահը: Այս ձեւով իրականացաւ Տիրոջ խօսքը, Ովսիա մարգարէի բերնով ըսուած. «Եգիպտոսէն կանչեցի իմ որդիս»:
Իսկ Հերովդէս, երբ տեսաւ որ մոգերը զինք խաղի բերին, սաստիկ զայրացաւ եւ մարդիկ ղրկեց, որպէսզի սպաննեն Բեթլեհէմի մէջ եւ անոր շրջակայքը գտնուող բոլոր երեխաները, որոնք երկու տարեկան եւ կամ աւելի փոքր էին, նկատի առնելով Յիսուսի ծննդեան ժամանակը, որ ստուգած էր մոգերէն: Այսպէս իրականացաւ այն՝ ինչ որ Տէրը Երեմիա մարգարէին բերնով կ՚ըսէ.- «Գոյժ մը լսուեցաւ Ռամայի մէջ, ողբ, հեծեծանք եւ լացուկոծ դառնագին. Ռաքէլ իր զաւակներուն համար կու լար եւ մխիթարուիլ չէր ուզեր, քանի այլեւս անոնք չկային»:
Հերովդէսի մահէն ետք, ահա Տիրոջ հրեշտակը Եգիպտոսի մէջ Յովսէփի երեւցաւ երազի մը մէջ եւ ըսաւ.- Ել, առ մանուկն ու մայրը եւ վերադարձիր Իսրայէլի երկիրը, որովհետեւ մանուկը սպաննել ուզողները մեռան:
Յովսէփ ելաւ, առաւ մանուկն ու անոր մայրը եւ վերադարձաւ Իսրայէլի երկիրը: Սակայն երբ լսեց որ Աղքեղայոսը թագաւորած է Հրէաստանի վրայ՝ իր հօրը Հերովդէսի տեղ, հոն երթալու վախցաւ: Փոխարէնրը, երազի մը մէջ իրեն հրամայուածին համաձայն՝ գնաց Գալիլեայի կողմերը եւ եկաւ բնակեցաւ Նազարէթ քաղաքին մէջ, որպէսզի իրականանայ ինչ որ Տէրը կ՚ըսէ մարգարէներուն միջոցաւ, թէ Նազովրեցի պիտի կոչուի:
THE EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL TO THE HEBREWS (
1:1-12)
Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets,
but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds.
He is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
For to which of the angels did God ever say,
"You are my Son;
today I have begotten you"?
Or again,
"I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son"?
And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
"Let all God's angels worship him."
Of the angels he says,
"He makes his angels winds,
and his servants flames of fire."
But of the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, is[c] forever and ever,
and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your[d] kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."
And,
"In the beginning, Lord, you founded the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;
they will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like clothing;
like a cloak you will roll them up,
and like clothing[e] they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end."
ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ՆԱՄԱԿԸ ԵԲՐԱՅԵՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ (1.1-12)
Անցեալին բազմաթիւ անգամները եւ բազմաթիւ կերպերով Աստուած մեր հայրերուն խօսեցաւ մարգարէներուն միջոցաւ, իսկ այս վերջին օրերուն մեզի խօսեցաւ իր Որդիին միջոցաւ: Աստուած զինք ամէն բանի ժառանգորդ կարգեց եւ անոր միջոցաւ էր որ տիեզերքը ստեղծեց: Որդին, Հօրը փառքին լոյսը եւ անոր էութեան ճշգրիտ պատկերը, որ իր խօսքին զօրութեամբ տիեզերքը կը պահէ, իր անձով մեր մեղքերը սրբելէ ետք՝ երկինքի մէջ նստաւ Աստուծոյ՝ Գերագոյն Զօրութեան, աջ կողմը:
Անիկա շատ աւելի բարձր է հրեշտակներէն, ինչպէս Աստուծմէ իրեն տրուած գերազանց անունը ցոյց կու տայ. որովհետեւ ո՞ր մէկ հրեշտակին երբեւիցէ Աստուած ըսաւ. «Դուն իմ որդիս ես, այսօր քեզ ծնայ»: Կամ ո՞ր մէկ հրեշտակին ըսաւ. «Ես անոր հայր պիտի ըլլամ եւ անիկա՝ ինծի որդի»: Դարձեալ, երբ իր անդրանիկ Որդին աշխարհ կը ղրկէր, ըսաւ. «Աստուծոյ բոլոր հրեշտակները թող պաշտեն զայն»:
Աստուած իր հրեշտակներուն մասին խօսած ատեն՝ կÿըսէ. «Աստուած իր հրեշտակները ստեղծեց որպէս պատգամաւոր հոգիներ, եւ իրեն ծառայողները՝ կրակի բոցի պէս»:
Մինչդեռ Որդիին կÿըսէ. «Քու աթոռդ, ո՛վ Աստուած, յաւիտենական է. արդարութեամբ կÿիշխես թագաւորութեանդ վրայ: Արդարութիւնը կը սիրես եւ անիրաւութիւնը կÿատես: Ահա թէ ինչու, ո՛վ Աստուած, քու Աստուածդ ուրախութեան իւղով օծեց քեզ, քու ընկերներէդ աւելի»:
Դարձեալ, ուրիշ տեղ մը Որդիի կÿըսէ. «Դուն, ո՛վ Տէր, սկիզբէն ստեղծեցիր երկիրը: Եւ երկինքը քու ձեռագործդ է: Անոնք պիտի կորսուին. բայց դուն կաս եւ կը մնաս: Անոնք հագուստի պէս պիտի մաշին. վերարկուի մը պէս պիտի ծալլես զանոնք եւ հագուստի մը պէս փոխես: Բայց դուն միշտ նոյնն ես եւ քու տարիներդ վերջ պիտի չունենան»:
