Are You Aware of the New North Carolina Power of Attorney Statute effective January 1, 2018?

All attorneys in North Carolina who prepare, review, construe, accept, or otherwise address any matter related to a power of attorney must obtain knowledge about the North Carolina Uniform Power of Attorney Act and prepare to represent their clients on any matter related to a power of attorney on or after January 1, 2018.

When I was about 10 years old, I remember getting into trouble because of something I wrote in a note to one friend saying things about another friend.  My mom told me, "Never put anything in writing that you don't want the whole world to know."  Little did mom know how prescient she was in foretelling today's age of social media.
