The Greater Philadelphia Region's Gardens Cultivate Over $200M in Economic Impact

Greater Philadelphia Gardens (GPG) released a new report based on an analysis done by ESI
that demon
strates the substantial enhancements in regional tourism and recreation stimulated
by
public gardens, attracting an estimated 2.5 million visitors annually, and providing substant
ial support to the local economy. The Philadelphia region has long been regarded as "America's Garden Capital" having more than 30 public gardens within a 30-mile radius. Thes
e cherished p
laces have supported more than 1,500 jobs--totaling $79 million in earnings, and generate $3.6 million per year in business, sales, and income tax revenue.
GPG announced the results of the study during a press conference at Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's (PHS) annual Flower Show on Wednesday, March 15.

Mullin spoke on the economic impact of cultural organizations at the Greater Philadelphia's Cultural Alliance's Community Briefing and Press Conference on Federal Arts Funding on April 6 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). At the event, Mr. Mullin said, "The arts must be considered part of large social impact, it's not concentrated in a small area."

Lily Ho
Prior to ESI, she worked as a Project Associate at American Communities Trust (ACT), a Baltimore based non-profit that works with partners to create inclusive economic development projects. At ACT, she managed its Baltimore Food Business Microloan Fund, and provided research assistance on the social and economic impacts of New Market Tax Credit funded projects.

For ULI Annual Trends Conference's, she is preparing an image gallery that transcends 2 decades of development in the market revealing trends and clusters of development.
