Highlights from the April 4, 2017
Lake Forest High School Board of Education District 115 meeting

Board President's Report
Board President Reese Marcusson thanked the board members, candidates, Caucus, campaign workers, and most importantly, voters, on both sides, that worked tirelessly,
and put themselves out there for the good of our schools and community during this challenging election. Reese commented that community service is an important aspect
of our school and community. He hoped a way will be found to move forward in a collaborative and respectful manner. Reese stated though there may be disagreement,
he believes there is common ground: we all want great schools. We must collectively focus on educating passionate, insightful and courageous students that will make a difference in their world. That is our vision and our mission. View video for complete report.

Superintendent's Report
Principal Chala Holland commented that Lake Forest High School will administer the Suite of SAT tests to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors this week. New this year,
the SAT for juniors is mandated by ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education). Also new
this year, LFHS has implemented the PSAT 8/9 for freshmen and the PSAT 10 for sophomores. She noted this suite of assessments is a core part of our student model.
Chala announced that the district is surveying students, staff, and parents regarding the timing of final exams at LFHS. The high school plans to make a decision about the
timing of finals by the end of this school year, for implementation during the 2018-19 school year.

Chala commented that seniors and their parents will be receiving information clarifying the process for our seniors to access off campus privileges. She noted that students
need parental consent to leave campus during the school day.

The Environmental Club will host special events honoring Earth Day the week of April 17.

Chala concluded her report with a thank you to the Board of Education for the support of the work of the high school and for her growth as a leader. She commented that the Board has pushed, challenged and encouraged us all to grow and be better for the community we serve.

Superintendent Mike Simeck announced that the Alumni Wall of Fame Induction Program will be held this Friday. He noted that this is an inspiring event for our senior class. He thanked the Wall of Fame committee for their efforts and coordination. Mike also discussed the Illinois State Board of Education school accountability initiative Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). He discussed the four summative tiers of the accountability framework. View video for complete report.
