Principal Message:  April 6, 2017

Dear Parents,
It was nice seeing some of you on Saturday at Denim and Diamonds.  We appreciate the foundation and all of their hard work not only for this event, but for everything that they do throughout the year for our school and Lovejoy ISD.  It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that Mrs. Boxell has decided to stay home next year with her baby.  Although we are happy for her and her family, she will definitely be missed as our assistant principal.  In the next couple of months, I will actively be looking for an assistant principal to serve Lovejoy Elementary and continue our strong legacy.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

NEW! Legacy Read
Walk a mile in my shoes.
See what I see--
Hear what I hear--
Then maybe you'll understand why I do what I do.
The LISD librarians are excited to share the Legacy Read program for 2017. This annual district reading experience will foster and promote a community of readers at LISD while also celebrating our diversity. The goal is to encourage empathy, perspective taking, and acceptance by prompting Leopards to read books, both fiction and nonfiction, about people who are different from themselves. By immersing ourselves in the stories of others, we can better understand the paths they choose to follow and experience what it means to "WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES." During the month of April, students will be encouraged to read diverse books, share their reflections and creatively show what they have learned from these books.

A family art project will be in Thursday folders this week. The challenge is to read a Legacy book and then create a pair of shoes to represent that book. You may decorate the footprints on the page sent home or even decorate an actual pair of shoes! Your only limit is your creativity! All projects will be showcased in the Lovejoy Library. For more information click here . Mrs. Dawson
