The Tri-Cities area's business and government leaders gathered en masse recently to join the region's premier economic development organization in celebrating another stellar year.

Virginia's Gateway Region held its 56th annual meeting on April 6 at the Petersburg Country Club, which is actually located just across the city line at the northwest corner of Prince George County. The event drew nearly 100 business owners and executives, as well as local and state government officials from the three cities and five counties the organization serves.

VGR Partner Atlantic Constructors, Inc., (ACI) the region's leading commercial and industrial contractor with offices in Richmond, Roanoke and Hampton Roads, is currently undergoing a $3 million expansion to enlarge its fabrication facility in Chesterfield County from 100,000 to 130,000 square feet. The project, which is scheduled for completion in July 2017, enables ACI to seize a competitive edge with its prefabrication and modular construction capabilities.
