Farewell to Lian Esehaki
|
 The WACA National Office will bid a fond farewell to our colleague Lian Esehaki at the end of April, when she will move to Luxembourg to begin a new life chapter and the next phase of her career. Lian joined us in September 2015, bringing passion to the WACA mission and sharp attention to detail as she plunged into her communications duties just weeks ahead of the National Conference.
"We have been privileged to have Lian as a member of the WACA team and will greatly miss interacting with her on a daily basis," said WACA President and CEO Bill Clifford. "Fortunately for WACA, she scheduled her transatlantic move after the Carlos and Malu Alvarez 2017 Academic WorldQuest National Competition." Lian has also contributed significantly to the development and redesign of the new WACA Web site, which will be launched in May.
"It has been an honor and pleasure," Lian said, "to work with the dedicated people of the World Affairs Council system, including the WACA Board, the National Office team, and colleagues and members throughout the network."

Communications and Marketing Job Announcement

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Officer coordinates public relations and marketing efforts for WACA national flagship programs - both externally (including media, news stories, issuance of press releases, website updates) and internally (newsletters to member Councils and the national Board of Directors) - and other initiatives to support WACA and the national Council network. In addition, the Officer assists in the development and execution of local Council communication pieces to ensure consistent, aligned national messaging.

Howard French is Associate Professor of Journalism at Columbia University. He wrote from Africa for The Washington Post, and later was The New York Times bureau chief in Central America and the Caribbean, West and Central Africa, Japan, and China.
