Peachjar eFlyers

On  February 1, FVSD began utilizing an electronic flyer distribution system, Peachjar, in an effort to improve communication, ensure a strong link between home and school, and to enhance community support and involvement in our schools. Every school, the District Office, and outside organizations uses Peachjar to distribute district-approved e-flyers to families district wide .  We are excited about the addition of Peachjar and look forward to this means of communication! FACILITIES MASTER PLAN (FMP)

District staff, parents, Trustees, community leaders, and even students have worked together with LPA Architects, Inc. to create a detailed Facilities Master Plan (FMP).  The District's newly developed FMP identifies a vision for the next 10 to 15 years and provides a road map to coordinate short and long-range goals for our school buildings.

As we move further into spring, FVSD continues to make strides in many areas.  Professional development remains a top priority and all staff members are working hard to bring the finest instructional strategies and programs to our students. In addition, our work with facilities is progressing rapidly. We have hired an architect, are working on a construction delivery method and are moving forward with our first Measure O bond issuance of approximately $20 million in May.  These are exciting times and I am extremely proud of our commitment toward continuous improvement!

As always, thank you for everything you do to support teaching and learning in our District!

Kindly,
Mark Johnson, Ed.D.
Superintendent

FOCUS:  Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) Demo Lessons

Over the last several weeks, our elementary teachers and Ed Services Division have been busy hosting numerous demonstration lessons in Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), the District's current PreK - 5th grade math initiative.  Fourteen teachers opened their classroom doors to let their colleagues in to observe their craft!  We are extremely grateful to all of our teachers for their ongoing efforts to build our students' math skills.
CELEBRATE: ACSA State Administrator of the Year, Dr. Hoefer
It is with great excitement that we announce that Dr. Julianne Hoefer, Director of Educational Services for Fountain Valley School District, has been named the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) State Administrator of the Year (AOY) for Curriculum and Instruction. Earlier this year, Dr. Hoefer was named FVSD's AOY, which allowed her to move to the county level competition. After being honored at the county level, Dr. Hoefer qualified to move on to the state level, where she has been honored, as well.  We are all thrilled for Julianne, as this award recognizes her years of service and dedication to our students, staff, parents and community.  Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hoefer on this well deserved honor!

Moreover, Boy Scout Troop 1226 did a wonderful job leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  It was an amazing evening celebrating our students and volunteers
IMPACT: Hyundai Roadtrip for Girls!

On Friday, March 13th, 45 middle school girls, fifteen from each middle school, Fulton, Masuda and Talbert, spent the day at Hyundai Motor America headquarters for a unique opportunity to learn more about the automotive industry.   The Hyundai Roadtrip for Girls! surely had an impact on these young women as they experienced a behind the scenes look at Hyundai's world class facility. While there, the students learned more about engineering, design, advertising, sales, and market research.  We are grateful to partnerships with community leaders, like Hyundai Motor America, for their generous support of our students!
