If you are planning to transfer to a UC or CSU, you must have 60 transferable units. (Note: out-of-state and privates do not have this requirement).
The
Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is a pattern of courses that California community college students can follow to satisfy lower-division general education requirements for any UC or CSU campus.
Although completion of General Education (GE) is not normally an admission requirement for transfer, there are some campuses that do require completion or weigh completion of general education heavily in the transfer selection process. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you complete General Education before transfer (note: science and engineering majors should focus on finishing the preparation for their major and consult with a counselor regarding GE).
