VBS Save the Date! Vacation Bible School will be held June 5 - 9, 2017. We will present "What's up Zac?": A Musical at the Crossroads of Social Justice. We will continue our outreach efforts in the community while exploring the importance of social justice and ways to make a big impact in our community and in the world. R E Lee Memorial Episcopal will partner again with Good Shepherd, Lexington Presbyterian and Trinity United Methodist Churches.
Thursday Lenten Service and Lunch at Manly
The Community Lenten Preaching Service and Lunch will be held on Thursdays at 12:10 continues through April 6 at Manly Memorial Baptist Church. Sponsored by Rockbridge Area Ministers Association.

Interested in Taking a Closer Look? Adult Confirmation Class, April 9, 23 and 30
In preparation for Confirmation Sunday on May 7, the Rector will lead an adult Inquirers Class on Sunday, April 9, 23 and 30 in the Library of the Parish House from 2 to 4 p.m. All are welcome- those who would like to be confirmed, those from other denominations who want to know what Episcopalians believe, and settled parishioners who'd like a refresher course. Confirmation
We will welcome the sixth Bishop of our Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Mark A. Bourlakas, for Confirmation on May 7 at the 10:30 service. He will also preach and celebrate at the 8 am service and lead a forum at 9:15 in the Parish Hall.

As ministers of the world the confirmation class is collecting non-perishable food for Lisa's House of Project Horizon. Non-perishable items include -
non-perishable milk, spaghetti pasta, spaghetti sauce, parmesan cheese, popcorn, tea bags, canned soup, dried fruit, canned fruit, hot chocolate mix, fruit snacks, juice pouches, Kool-Aid pouches, cereal boxes, nuts, cookies, trail mix, pretzels, and goldfish crackers. A bin is located outside of the Library. Thank you for helping!
ECW Coffee at Kendal, Tuesday, May 23
Each year the Episcopal Church Women of R E Lee Memorial Church honor their members who reside at Kendal. All are invited to "Coffee at Kendal" in the Restaurant from 10 am to 11 am. Please bring something to share (fruit, cookies, sandwiches).

The Ju family, once members of our parish, suffered the loss of their home and much of Dr. Ju's art (he passed away a few years ago) by fire in Princeton, NJ recently. Many have asked for an address.

Anne Grizzle Ordination
God willing, Anne Grizzle will be ordained into the transitional diaconate on Friday, May 12 at 6 pm. The ordination will take place at R E Lee Memorial Episcopal Church with a reception afterwards in the Parish Hall.
Spring Clean Up, Saturday, April 8
It is time again for outdoor clean up! Please join us on Saturday,
April 8, at. 9:00 am as we spruce up the church grounds. Bring your
favorite rake or trowel and a willing spirit. Refreshments provided. Help us prove again as we did last year that many hands do, indeed, make light work. Our labyrinth will be featured during the Garden Tour on April 22. Michael Barry-Rec has volunteered to spray wash it before then. Your Property Committee thanks you.
Help make our Easter celebration beautiful with lilies for the chancel. The cost of a memorial lily is $10. To list a memorial in the bulletin, contact the Parish Office ( [email protected]) or sign up on the Bridge or Narthex.
If you would like to give flowers for the altar at other times of the year, sign up on the Flower Chart on the Bridge.
Lanford Mission Emergency Fund
The Lanford Mission Emergency Fund primarily receives its funding from Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas offerings as well as some pledges that are earmarked "Mission Emergency Fund."
To date (3/28/2017), we have received 45 requests for assistance. This is a slight increase over first quarter 2016. Requests are usually made because of sudden illness, unexpected job loss, or other crisis situations. In the majority of cases, RARA (Rockbridge Area Relief Association) does the vetting to verify need and then contacts RE Lee Memorial along with Lexington Presbyterian and St. Patrick's Roman Catholic churches to share costs with RARA.
As we approach Easter, we ask you to consider a donation to the Lanford Mission Emergency Fund. If you would like to make a gift in the form of a check, the check can be made out to R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church with "Lanford MEF" noted on the memo line. The Christian Outreach Committee thanks you for your continued support

Thank you to all the parishioners and staff who helped realize the March 4th Lenten Auction to Benefit People of Tonj, South Sudan. Special thanks go to Father Tom, Ted and the Junior Choir, Sharon Massie and the Youth Groups, Joan Crawford, Doug Cumming, Carole Elmore, Keith Gibson, Cindy and Grig Mullen, Margaret Whittington, and the families of Connie Loughhead and Erika Brooke. The evening was a lot of fun for the Lexington/Rockbridge Community and raised over $5,000 in two hours for the three projects in South Sudan earmarked by Susan Mead's new nonprofit, Diversity Serves. Funds were secured to send a young woman to college for one year, to house and feed the children of Hope House for one month, and to make the first of three payments on the Land Cruiser so that Bishop Peter can serve his new Diocese of Tonj, South Sudan. Thank you again to all who helped make this possible!

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) offers opportunity to local families.
By welcoming a student into your home, you make it possible for
members of your community to meet, interact, and learn from
someone from a different culture.
We're looking for host families in this area for our students arriving in August. These students have chosen to step outside their comfort zones to be part of new families, schools, and communities and live
like American teens!
CIEE Host Families come in all shapes and sizes-kids, no kids, single parents, empty nesters, etc... Many host families find they develop a relationship that lasts a lifetime. Most students come for the entire school year, but some are semester students. Host families can also be a "Welcome Family" and host the student for the first 6-8 weeks.

Calling all 9th through 12th graders!!
Happening #10 has been scheduled to take place the weekend of May 12-14th, 2017. This springs Happening will be hosted by R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church in Lexington, Virginia.
HAPPENING is a weekend presented by teenagers and adults for teenagers and adults. The weekend is spent in a relaxed, fun, informal, loving environment sharing your faith in a Christian atmosphere. Our own Caroline Webster will act as "rector" and will lead the weekend with the help of clergy and a staff of mostly young people. The weekend is open to youth in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.
It is also open to young adults and adults.
HAPPENING encourages participants to relate the foundations and message of the Christian faith to their world. A HAPPENING weekend is just a beginning. The idea is to get closer to God during the three-day program and continue to grow in the Christian way of life.
HAPPENING encourages participation in the local parish.
The format of the weekend includes talks and discussions on the basic elements of Christian life and its application to daily living. The sacraments of the church also play an integral part throughout the weekend. This weekend is sponsored by the Episcopal Church and we will be celebrating some of the sacraments according to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. We encourage people to live fuller Christian lives in their respective denominations. Need more information? See

Thirteen youth and seven adults participated the Community Youth Lock-in. We ate pizza, worked in the community at Project Horizon and TUMC, prayed together, watched a movie, slept a little bit, and had LOTS of fun in the process!
