New UA Coding Boot Camp in Chandler Aims to Foster Growth in Tech Sector's Talent Pipeline

The City of Chandler and the University of Arizona (UA) are pleased to announce that UA's office of Continuing and Professional Education (CaPE) in Chandler is set to launch a UA Coding Boot Camp, a program that will teach students the basics of web-development skills in a span of just 24 weeks. The program begins on Monday, April 3, at UA's Chandler location, 125 E. Commonwealth Ave., and will run until Saturday, Sept. 30. Classes are specifically structured around the schedules of working professionals and full-time students.

Growing the tech sector's talent pipeline is especially important to Chandler, a city known as the Innovation and Technology Hub of the Southwest. "Chandler is home to some of the most recognizable technology companies in the world because of the strength of our workforce," said Mayor Jay Tibshraeny. "STEM training programs like UA's Coding Boot Camp are vital to delivering the highly skilled talent these companies need to stay at the forefront of innovation."

"Together with the City of Chandler, we are providing a critical investment in the future success of our university and state," said Melissa Vito, UA's senior vice president for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, and senior vice provost for Academic Initiatives & Student Success. "Not only will this program keep residents on the leading edge of workplace and career readiness, we are also developing and producing the talent and skills that employers have said they need."
