Dear Members, Clients, and Friends,

Now that you have completed Psychological, Emotional, and Spiritual self-care, it's time to get Personal.

For the next week you will focus on a re-awareness, or learning who you are, and what you want out of your life. Some examples to work on this week are:
  • Plan short and long-term goals
  • Make a vision board
  • Go on dates
  • Go to coffee with a friend
  • Get out of debt
  • Just relax
  • Write a poem or a book
  • Spend time with your family
  • Learn to play an instrument
Instead of trying to accomplish multiple large goals, pick one at the top of your mind. Now think about one small thing you can do to move yourself toward that goal right now, and do it. Do this daily and see where you end up in 1 week, 2 weeks, etc.

When you have time outside of your to do list, thinking, working and taking care of others, what tends to occupy your mind, what thoughts or passions tug at your heart strings? Those thoughts are not there by accident. Explore them.

All the best, Alta

Client of the Month
Julia Stark

I am not who I would think of as someone who would be chosen as "Client of the Month." I have social anxiety, my balance is sometimes questionable, and I can be a bit awkward.

I am also my own worst critic, and I think that's true of most people. However, everyone at NW Women's Fitness is incredibly nice, sincere, supportive, and really want to see the members succeed!
Gillian was my very first personal trainer and through her support she helped build my confidence, and showed me I was far more capable than I thought I was. I also realized that no one is looking at you, or judging your capabilities (except maybe you.)

The front desk staff/Customer Service Reps. are incredibly thoughtful and supportive. Roxy even agreed to do a Team Training with me (at her own expense, & on her own time!) and now we are taking a Zumba class together.

Although I am extremely hesitant to try new things, I always wanted to try boxing, so I did a short session with Alta and discovered I really like hitting things (with proper form, of course.)

I'm still uncomfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone, yet I had always been interested in Pilates, so I tried a one-on-one session with Alta, and I now LOVE taking Pilates with Meghan Ash twice a week.
A friend of mine (Yes! I even made friends at the gym) was working out with Jolene and I thought, maybe I could do that, too. Meghan at the front desk encouraged me to sign up with her for Jolene's Booty Bootcamp, and even though it's an intense workout, I always enjoy it.

Now, I'm gearing up to try Leigh's Hoop Dance Class! My advice is to just try something you have always wanted to do, or join a class you have been interested in. Be willing to take one tiny step in a different direction.

There are definitely days I do NOT feel like going to the gym, but I read something recently that really resonated with me--**Do it for the future YOU. I am not where I want to be in terms of my physique, but I can look at my body as it is right now and appreciate that I am strong, I am flexible, and even, at times, graceful.

I am usually very intimidated by taking group classes (remember the social anxiety factor) and I'm sure other people might be, too. If there is something you want to try and you're scared or nervous to try it by yourself-ask me, and I will do it with you. Find me and come talk to me, leave me a note at the front desk, whatever you feel comfortable with, and I promise I will join you in trying whatever you like. You don't have to do it alone, and there is always someone at the gym to encourage you and support you wherever you are on your journey. And I will happily join you wherever you are, too!
