Government Relations Update

Charities and Government: Modernizing the Relationship

On February 8th, Leah Eustace, ACFRE, Chair of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy - Canada, was invited to join the liberal senate forum to discuss issues faced by the charitable, non-profit, and social enterprise sectors in Canada. Despite the important contributions that charities provide to society, charitable giving has hit a ten year low.

The topic, Charities and Government: Modernizing the Relationship, explores what role the Government of Canada can play in facilitating the continued significance and growth of organizations that provide a fundamental socially minded role in Canadian society.

The presentation provides insight from a well-informed panel and creates an opportunity for further discussion. It is important to also note that on behalf of Canadian fundraising professionals, Leah presented AFP-Canada's key Government Relations position statements (51.21 - 57.33).

  • How can I connect a donation button to my website?
  • How do I research and target our donors and volunteers?
  • How do I create targeted ads and boosted posts on Facebook?
  • How can I track clicks on our website?
  • How can I improve the chance of my organization coming up in Google search?
  • How do I hire a designer to make me a great website, and stay on budget?
  • How do I use a mass emailing tool, such as MailChimp or Constant Contact?
