By prepaying for 1 or 2 Challahs a week, your Challah will be sent home with your child every week baked fresh from the Carriage House Bakery.

If you are interested you can prepay through the office to receive challah starting April 28 until Summer break. Please note there will not be Challah on days where there is no school. Orders and payment must be received by Wednesday, April 5 for the next 8 weeks. The cost is $20 for one challah or $40 for two challahs.
We apologize but no orders can be accepted after Wednesday, April 5.

PJ Library Goes to Akiva
Thank you to Kathie Wainer and PJ Library for coming to visit the Akiva Pre-School and Daycare this morning. Several families got to visit the classrooms, and learn about the great programs that we have. Thank you to all the teachers and students for welcoming our visitors!
Town Hall Update
It has been a while since our town hall meeting in December and we wanted to provide a summary of the meeting as well as an update/response to some of the issues raised. Please click on the links below. Thank you to Mrs. Wilms for taking notes and for providing the summary! If there is interest from parents to have another meeting, we would be happy to arrange it. Please let us know if you are interested.
School Supply Gemach
Dear Akiva Families and Students,

The grade 6-9 girls are starting a School Supply Gemach to help their fellow students.

What is a Gemach?
A Gemach is a nonprofit organization that lends things to other people. Such as books, tablecloths, strollers, wheelchairs, coat hangers etc.

What are we doing?
The grade 6-9 girls will be starting a School Supply Gemach. We will supply students with pens, pencils and other school supplies that will be listed on our poster.

Why are we doing this?
We have noticed that many students have been running low on school supplies that they need to complete their schoolwork, and often have to ask to borrow other people's supplies. We want to provide these unnamed students with a way of getting the supplies they need without having to ask other people.

Gemach Rules:
Sign out what you took
  1. Return the supplies in the condition that you received them in (Does not apply to lined paper)
  2. Put the supply you took back in the appropriate container
  3. Remember to sign the supply back in
*Please remember that is a service to you, so please take care of the items you take so that others can also benefit from it*

What can you do to help?
If you have any extra, gently used or new school supplies at home or at school (ask your parents before taking/giving), you can put them into a box at the office that will be labeled 'School Supply Gemach".

What we are looking for:
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Pens
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Highlighters
  • Colored pencils
  • Markers
  • Pencil
  • Rulers
  • Tape
  • Sharpeners
  • Liquid glue
  • Whiteout
  • Lined paper
Crayons Wanted
Morah Alexandra is looking for used crayons, any size, broken or not, for an art project. Please drop them off at the office at your earliest convenience.
