'NYC surpassing the 100 MW mark can be attributed to the strategic actions Sustainable CUNY and our partners recommended in the NYC Solar Roadmap when solar was at a mere 1 MW. The NYC Solar Partnership worked collaboratively to systematically address the identified barriers to solar and the market has now busted through even the most robust predictions. The Partnership's work is ongoing and the growth is expected to continue with Mayor de Blasio's Solarize NYC and Shared Solar NYC programs. Sustainable CUNY is now utilizing the same strategy to create a pathway to solar+storage and recently published the NYC Resilient Solar Roadmap' -
Tria Case, University Director of Sustainability at CUNY and Lead for the NYC Solar Partnership
NY ORDER- LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
The New York Public Service Commission has approved a new order that weighs time, location and grid needs into the rate calculation of how much each kilowatt-hour of solar generation is worth for each customer. The Phase 1 rates are known as the "value of distributed energy resources" or VDER. This is a first step toward a new pricing mechanism, known as the Value Stack, which also establishes compensation for energy storage when combined with eligible DG systems. Read the full order or view a pdfof the webinar presentation.
NY SOLAR+STORAGE SUMMIT 2017
Sponsorships are now available for Sustainable CUNY's 11th annual NY Solar+Storage Summit on June 21st in NYC. CDG NOW EASIER FOR SOME MULTI-UNITS
With all the interest on the VDER order, some may have missed the ruling on March 13th, 2017. The NYC Public Service Commission approved a petition filed by the City of New York and others requesting a limited waiver of the ten member minimum requirement for Community Distributed Generation (CDG) Projects. The waivereliminates the ten member minimum for CDG projects on residential properties with multiple units.
