Dear (Contact First Name),

Six and a half years ago, I came to Keeneyville and joined a journey of educating, supporting and caring for the children of the district.

This is a bittersweet time for me personally as I announce that on December 14, I was appointed to be the next superintendent of Community Consolidated School District 21 in Cook County. My time with Keeneyville will come to a close on June 30, 2018. While I am extremely excited to begin the next phase of my professional journey, I am truly sad to be leaving a place I have come to call home.

In the coming weeks, the formal search process for a new superintendent will begin and Board President Weishaar will communicate with you as that process unfolds. In the meantime, serving this district has been one of the true joys of my professional life and I look forward to continuing our work together in the new year.

I hope you and your families have a very happy and healthy holiday season.

Dr. Michael Connolly

Parent Education Day
On December 15, the Early Childhood Center held a Parent Education Day. During this time, parents were given information regarding behavior management, speech and language development, use of visuals to help children throughout their day and classroom activities in different subject areas that could be completed at home. This was a good opportunity for parents to gather information on these topics and ask questions from the District 20 psychologist, speech-language pathologists and teachers. Thank you to all the parents who attended!

Enjoying Indoor Snow
Preschoolers mixed water and a special powder to make pretend snow. The students had a great time making it and playing with it at the water table without their hands getting cold.

Greenbrook Guest Readers
Greenbrook students collect "Gator Gotchas" when they are caught being respectful, responsible and safe. "Gator Gotchas" can be redeemed for an opportunity to read to ECC preschoolers. The older students enjoy being the teacher and the preschoolers enjoy having the big kids come lead the class. It's a great experience for all of our students to participate in.

Athletic News
Girls Basketball Season Wrap Up from Coach Johnson and Coach Foege
The girls basketball season was a great success. The sixth/ seventh grade team finished with a 500 record and the eighth grade team finished with a record of six wins and four losses.

All of the girls showed signs of improvement throughout the season. They never gave up and worked hard at practice to improve as a team. It was nice to see teammates helping each other  to improve their game so that everyone could contribute to their team.

It was great to see the girls supporting each other during the highs and lows of a basketball season. The coaches are always excited to get to see such growth from these young athletes with each new season.

The culminating activity was an assembly which allowed students to share their classroom messages of kindness and collectively place their painted rocks into the Waterbury Kindness Rock Garden.

Good Deeds Club
